NEW JERSEY LEGISLATURE PLAYS POLITICS
WITH CRISIS PREGNENCY

The New Jersey State Assembly scheduled a vote on support for Roe vs. Wade the landmark 1973, U.S. Supreme Court decision that has led to the legalization of abortion on demand up until the moment before birth for today.

"This is purely a political move.  The vote will have no effect except to mark legislators as being for or against the abortion industry lobby so they can know who to make contributions to or against, and to embarrass the President of the United States." Said Larry Cirignano, the President of CatholicVote.org a National organization of lay Catholics that works to register, educate and motivate Catholic voters.

"The legislature should be moving on the legislation, that other states have passed, that will help the 152 New Jersey women who will face a crisis pregnancy today, and keep them from making what we believe is a bad choice, the choice to kill their baby.

The legislature needs to be promoting abstinence and preventing unwanted pregnancy and the spread of communicable disease that comes with pre-martial sex.

They need to be funding crisis pregnancy centers so that women facing an unexpected pregnancy have a place to turn to for assistance that doesn't have a profit motive to promote abortion.

They should pass a requirement that parents have to give their permission for their daughter to have an abortion. They ought to at least follow through and pass Parental Notification so that Parents can assist their children who are considering abortion.

They need to fund sonogram machines so that we can promote healthy mothers having healthy babies.

They should require informed consent laws so that women can know about the increased risk of Breast Cancer and other health problems before they have abortions.

Abortion mills should be regulated as "health" facilities, at least as much as a veterinary clinic is.

Finally, we ought to require accurate reporting of abortion statistics so that we can have honest debate about how many procedures are done, at what age of the mother and the length of the pregnancy.

Mother Teresa said it best: "It is a terrible tragedy that a child must die so that we may live as we wish"; I would add or so that politicians can win elections."
