GARRETT BECOMES 5TH PRO-LIFE MEMBER OF CONGRESS FROM NJ BACKED BY NJRTL-PAC
5 Out of 6 Republicans in NJ Congressional Delegation Now Pro-Life
NJRTL-PAC, the state’s largest and only active pro-life political action committee, issued the following statement tonight regarding Scott Garrett’s victory in the 5th Congressional District race:
“NJRTL-PAC is proud to have delivered the support necessary to help Pro-Life Scott Garret become New Jersey's newest Member of Congress,” said Marie Tasy, Director of Public & Legislative Affairs for NJRL-PAC. “Today, the voters of the 5th Congressional district wisely chose Pro-Life Scott Garrett over pro-abortion extremist Anne Sumers.” “Scott Garrett’s strong Pro-Life position allowed NJRTL-PAC to build a strong unified base of support which helped Scott win the race,” noted Tasy. “We are proud of the fact that Scott Garrett will become the 5th Pro-Life Republican Member of Congress from New Jersey backed by NJRTL-PAC."
Of the six Republicans in New Jersey's congressional delegation, 5 are solidly Pro-Life.
“Throughout Scott Garrett’s legislative career, he has demonstrated courageous, effective leadership. The 5th Congressional District will be well served by having Scott Garrett as their representative in Washington,” Tasy said. “We know we can count on Scott to work with President Bush on public policies which will promote a culture of life.”
NJRTL-PAC undertook an independent, vigorous "Get Out the Pro-Life Vote" effort which included phone banks and numerous mailings. NJRTL-PAC also directly contributed the maximum $10,000 to Scott Garrett for Congress campaign in 2002.
In addition to the 5th Congressional race, NJRTL-PAC has directly contributed to New Jersey congressional candidates who support President Bush and his Pro-Life agenda. Also, NJRTL-PAC has independently expended funds on "Get Out the Pro-Life Vote" efforts in the following key races:
