And they need a way to attract young workers. So some of them grant scholarships, usually from $1,500 to $10,000. When visiting the websites of these companies, on the home page look for something like: ABOUT US or CORP INFO. Click on that, and then look for something like: COMMUNITY or COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. check out: 1. BestBuy (2 scholarships from each store for $1,500 and they enter you at their headquarters for a $10,000 scholarship). 2. Comcast (your high school principal must recommend you for a $1,000 scholarship. They also have paid internship at a limited number of locations nationwide.) 3. Cracker Barrel (www.cbrlgroup.com) for employees, or their children - $1,000 4. Kohls (each store awards $50 and a certificate; then submits their winners to the region. Regional winners receive $1,000 and are submitted to the corporate headquarters. Corporate level winners get a $5,000 scholarship and a $1,000 donation to their favorite charity.) 5. Wal-Mart (www.walmartfoundation.org) Each store awards $1,000 to 2 students at each school in their area. Or if you have been an employee for 12 months, you qualify to apply for a $2,500 scholarship. 6. McDonalds (as Ronald McDonald House Charities at: www.RMHC.ORG) varies by region of the county. But a typical award is $1,000. May be from the corporation or from an association of stores in your area. Each of these companies have a simple application (1–2 pages) process. Several of these are receiving applications now. Some are closing as soon as Feb 12th. http://www.scrippscol.edu/dept/Wstudies/scholarships.htm http://www.rushu.rush.edu/finaid/grants/healthsciences_grants.html http://www.statefarm.com/foundati/awards.htm http://www.aauw.org/fga/fellowships_grants/index.cfm http://www.aauw.org/fga/fellowships_grants/american.cfm http://www.aauw.org/fga/fellowships_grants/career_development.cfm http://www.aauw.org/fga/fellowships_grants/community_action.cfm http://www.aauw.org/community_programs/scp_database.cfm AAUW Educational Foundation Dept. 60 301 ACT Drive Iowa City, IA 52243-4030 http://www.wepan.org/scholarship.html BPW Loan Fund for Women in Engineering The award is $5000, andyou must be an engineering major. You simply have to apply or ask how to apply. Most colleges have "Financial Aid Departments". The staff at these departments know of the common grants for student and can answer any questions you may have. Open the phone book and call some local colleges for answers or have them send you some info on everything they know of.PRIVATE GRANTSMany, many Companies, Clubs, Organizations and foundations provide grants. The trick is to find the right ones that apply to you or your children. Some of these people or places want to fund some of the education if you are interested or gifted in the field they sponsor. Here are some links that can help also (reviews, grants, supplies, exams, etc): Make no mistake about it, its literally a hunt, but well worth it BILL GATES SCHOLARSHIPS -www.GMSP.org <-VERY cool Mr. Gates BILL GATES SCHOLARS -GatesFoundation.org <-VERY cool Mr. Gates GREAT INFO HERE; SEARCH this www.fafsa.ed.gov/ CLICK HERE; at http://www.GrantsAlert.com CLICK HERE; at http://DoSomething.org<-brick award/ grants. click 'awards' or 'apply for brick award' CLICK HERE; ok, I put the BRICK AWARD Link here CLICK HERE; at www.givespot.com/gov/grants.htm CLICK HERE; at www.fastweb.com CLICK HERE; at www.scholarships.com CLICK HERE; at www.petersons.com CLICK HERE; at www.collegeboard.org CLICK HERE; at www.HESAA.org CLICK HERE; at www.collegeview.com CLICK HERE; at www.SOROS.org CLICK HERE; at Grants.gov CLICK HERE; at www.discountfoundation.org CLICK HERE; at www.statejustice.org CLICK HERE; at www.abalance.com CLICK HERE; at www.foundations.org CLICK HERE; at www.NEH.FED.us CLICK HERE; at www.NEH.FED.us GRANTS AND PROGRAMS CLICK HERE; at www.FDNcenter.org CLICK HERE; at www.COF.org CLICK HERE; at www.COS.com CLICK HERE; at www.ed.gov you may need to click on 'search'(on the left) and put in the words 'grants' (then click 'search' at the bottom) CLICK HERE; at www.ed.gov Program list CLICK HERE; at www.nal.usda.gov CLICK HERE; at www.pfaw.org helpful info CLICK HERE; at www.unitedstatesgrants.org I dont know about this one, still researching it a bit CLICK HERE; at www.ittnv.com IList CLICK HERE; at www.ittnv.com IIList CLICK HERE; at www.fex.orgList of foundations you could try and write, requesting if they have grants scholarships. CLICK HERE; epa.govPull out that phone book and start calling any local, county or state organizations, clubs and groups (private or not). Call EVERY SINGLE ONE. Most have grants they offer, if you meet their guidelines. It doesnt hurt to ask if they offer any grants or scholarships. Help with student loansStudent loans, like any other loan must be paid back and IS reported on your credit report. If you are going through a hard time, you can write them and request what is called a "Forbearance".This will buy you three months of time of no payments due. If you need more time, keep applying every three months. Call your provider and request it. Also ask what you need to put into the letter. Have it notarized!!! Some of these may be older, but they can at least point you in the right direction. I just put them in as I find them. Some may apply to you and some may not. Doesnt hurt to inquire. My hope is... that it helps.
