Environmental Education

"The unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates

Never too young to fall in love with nature!

The core mission of National Biodiversity Parks is to conserve our wealth of biodiversity amidst the current mass extinction era. As you have learned, we are actively trying to preserve and restore critical habitat for various floral and faunal species. However, there is only so much land one entity can save.

Therefore, NBP will maximize its impact on the environmental cause by fostering a public conservation ethic. By providing people with open access to the natural world, they will develop a new appreciation for all the wonders that are taken for granted by so many others. It is through this love of nature that people are moved to protect the environment.

To this end, National Biodiversity Parks will employ a multifaceted education campaign to inform the public of environmental issues. NBP's environmental education program will include field trips led by scientists and educators, formal interactive programs at our various "parks", self-guided nature trails with interpretive signs, an on-site environmental resource library, and various outreach programs.

Programs will be developed to be appropriate for people of all ages. Young children can develop (or further) their appreciation of the natural world by exploring our parks, enjoying our interactive programs, visiting our indoor exhibits, or spending time in our "Owl's Nest" with nature themed books and activities. Adolescents and adults will benefit from activities such as attending participatory programs held at either our indoor or "open air" classrooms, taking guided field trips, or performing research in our library. The NBP education program will be available to school and civic groups, nature clubs and organizations, governmental entities, and the general public.

Simply put - anyone who is open to connecting with nature is welcome at our "parks"!
