The Arabian Horse

The Arabian, graceful, The Arabian graceful, elegant and beautiful, arguably the most beautiful of all, is unmistakable in character and appearance. Fiery and courageous, he is also known to be gentle in nature and kind to the smallest of children that he may carry. It is also the purest and oldest of all breeds, having been carefully breed for thousands of years.
The breed dates back to almost 2500 years before the Christian Era. The Bedouin, the people who were most intimately concerned with this horse, trace their association, although tenuously, from around 3000bc to the mare, Baz and the stallion, Hoshaba. So these Desert Horses have a pure lineage for thousands of years. Thus confirming that it must be the purest of all breeds.
The endurance of the Arabian is quite amazing. He excels in endurance rising, though usually outclassed in other competitive disciplines. He can travel long distances with few stops and can go long periods of time without water or rest. The movement of the Arabian is usually described as “floating” as if he is on springs.
The Arab has a beautiful face that is short and has great refinement, pronouncedly concaved or dished face, large nostrils and large eyes. The Arab has a feature on it’s head called a jibbah which is the shield shaped bulge between the eyes which extends from the ears to the nasal bone. The neck is angled which allows the head to turn freely in all directions. The legs are hard and clean, the tendons are clearly defined and the feet are near perfect in shape and size. The tail sits noticeably high in the croup and is carried with pride high and arched. The body of the Arabian is short and slightly concaved. The withers are graceful and rounded into the shoulders that are distinctively set.
