Europe (Chapter 36, Page 954 – Yugoslavia)

What you need to know:

-         The former Yugoslav republics of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovnia, and Macedonia declared their independence in 1991.

-         A federal army invaded the new republics.

-         The most violent fighting occurred in Bosnia.

-         Serbians were following a policy of “ethnic cleansing,” by placing Bosnians in prison camps.

-         The rest of the world did not want to intervene militarily, and instead airlifted supplies.

-         There was concern that the conflict could have expanded.

Review (Study before you answer these.)
