Kowalczyk Looks to Breakout Season
Forrest Kobayashi-June 29, 2003

If anyone knows the definition of breakout, its Greg Kowalczyk.

After spending a long tenure in the USIBL, MIFL, WBL, and every other league you can name, Greg Kowalczyk looks to the iHL and a breakout season.  Kowalczyk, a center, clearly has the best scoring abilities and passing abilities of every player out there.

"Ya know, me and [my trainer] go out there every day on the ice and we work hard at the small things.  Its the small things that will make my game perfect."  Greg used to play in the UHL, the United Hockey League, where he scored an amazing 60 goals in 82 games played.  He led Buffalo to a UHL Championship and won the cup for them.

Despite getting offers from several teams wanting to break him into the NHL, Greg opted to stay in the league.  However, a fatal league crash had Greg a lost job.  NHL ruled out that everyone who was in the UHL could not join the NHL, and Greg was shattered.  A few months later, Greg found the iHL had just started up, and he was the charter member.

"It means a lot to me to be the first guy in the league," said Kowalczyk at a press conference.  "I get to get back on the rink and display my skills to a great number of fans out there."

We will just need to see how well Greg adjusts to the new conditions.  Who knows what he can do in the league?  With Buffalo's first round pick, he will be taken and will be supported by a "strong supporting cast".  Hopefully.
