Piano Man

Some may have not have known that the song Piano man was from billy's gigs at piano bars.
After the release of Cold spring harbor Billy went on tour to help promote the release of cold spring harbor
Billy played a gig at a philadelphia radio station (WMMR-FM)
Legal and financial troubls caused billy to excape to the west coast where Billy went under the name of "Bill Martin" playing piano bars for six months that experience was stored away, later to be retold in the song Piano man
Although Billy did his best to keep a low profile in L.A. the notoriety of Captian Jack prompted Columbia Records to track Billy down in Los Angeles and offer him a recoding contract
Billy signed with columbia records in the spring and went top work on an album with producer Michael Stewart.
Billy's frist top 20 single piano man was released in Nov of '73
