From This Moment 2

Previously...Tea stands at the door contemplating her next move. She looks down at her hands, closes her eyes, takes a deep breath.and looks up. She calmly walks over to Todd. She kneels in front of him just like after there first kiss. Tea feels an incredible sense of deja vu. This time her words would be diferent though....

*****

"Todd will you please look at me?"

He looks up but won't meet her eyes.

Great, Tea thinks were not back together five minutes and he's already shutting me out.

"Well, so much for your promises," Tea says. When she says this Todd looks directly at her.

"What are you talking about?" he says.

"A few minutes ago you said you wouldn't push me away and here you are doing it already," she says.

"I'm not pushing you away," he says looking at the floor.

"Pushing me away, protecting me, same difference."

"How can you look at me after knowing what I did?"he asks.

"I'm not happy about it Todd and I do wish things had been done differently but that can't be changed know can it?" she says.

"Delgado. I shot your boyfriend," he grimaces as he says this. "If I were you I wouldn't want to be near me."

Tea takes Todd's hand in hers, he tries to pull it back but she won't let go.

"Todd I have known what kind of man you are for a very long time and it didn't stop me from falling in love with you in the first place," Tea says.

"Well, nobody ever said you were the brightest bulb in the box," he says jokingly.

"You can joke all you want but we both know it's true. I know what kind of hurt and chaos your anger has resulted in. I've seen it first hand," she says looking down. When she says this Todd once again tries to pull his hand from hers but she still won't let go. She actually holds on tighter. They are both thinking of the night that things went to far. The night he hit her. Todd closes his eyes wishing away that whole night for the millionth time. He knows it won't go away though. It never does. When he opens his eyes he sees that Tea is looking directly at him.

"I never told you I was sorry. Not that it makes it any better but I am sorry, Delgado. There are only two things in my life that I am truly sorry for and laying my hands on you is one of them," Todd says with tears in his eyes. Tea can see that he means what he is saying.

"I'm sorry that I baited you that night Todd, not that what I think you did was right. I knew you were already over the edge I kept pushing you and that was wrong of me," Tea looks him in the eyes so that he knows she means what she says.

They both begin to realize forgiveness is not necessary, it was given along time ago. Tea stands up, still holding Todd's hand pulling him along with her.

"Todd, if we're going to do this we really have to do it," Tea says. Todd looks down at her with a look of confusion on his face

"What?"

Tea looks up at him smiling knowing exactly what he's thinking.

"Leave Todd. The cops are going to be here any minute looking for you and now me." Tea finally lets go of Todd's hand and reaches for her coat and purse. She begins to walk towards the door expecting Todd to follow her. When she turns around she is surprised to see him standing in the same spot she left him in.

"Todd?"

"This is serious huh? I mean you're really willing to give up everything for ME?"

"I thought that I had made that clear," she says smiling.

"Yeah, it's just I've never had anybody willing to give up ther life for me. Hell, I've never had anybody willing to give up a meal for me much less there life," Todd says.

"How many times do I have to tell you? I'm not just anybody," Tea says with grin.

"Oh, I learned that lesson a long time ago, Delgado. A long time ago."

"Okay, so lets go," Tea says while motioning towards the door. Todd's paranoid side begins to kick in. She seems just a little to eager to leave with him.Especially considering how she had reacted to his earlier request.

Tea can see the wheels turning in Todd's head already. She knows he is thinking something is up.

"Todd I'm not trying to trap you. I just think we need to get out of here. I'm not an expert on running from the law but I don't think this is safe for us," Tea says.

He dosen't want to believe that she would turn him in but considering she has done it in the past he is a little wary. He thinks about the night that he had found her in the hotel room with her brother. She had told him he was going to have to trust her. He had put all his doubts aside and done it. It had been harder then anything he had ever done. He did do it though. He decides that if this is going to work he will have to do it again. He knows that if dosen't she will walk out the door alone and he will lose her again. Despite what he had said earlier about not loving her he knows in his heart he does and can't take the chance of losing her again.

"Are you ready Todd?" Tea asks.

"Yeah Delgado, I'm ready. There is one more thing I need to do though." He pulls a letter an denvelope from his jacket and lays it on the table. Tea examines the letter before Todd stuffs it in to the envelope.

"We're out of here, huh?" Tea smiles. "Guess you were pretty sure if yourself."

"Well never let it be said that Todd Manning lacks confidence in his abilites," he says giving her that cocky grin he's had on his face all night.

"Yeah, sure Todd."

Todd walks over to the door and picks up his jacket. He opens the door with his right hand gently placing his left on the small of Tea's back. She glances around noticing this and looks up onlt to see Todd grinning.

"What? I told you I would surprise you."

"Todd I just thought of something. What if they trace your car?" she asks.

"Got it covered. I rented one," he says.

"Then they can trace your name," she answers back.

"Nope. I gave them a fake one."

"Todd what name did you choose?" she asks. She has a feeling, she thinks she already knows.

"Well", he starts.

"Todd," she says his name dragging it out.

"Ok, Ok, Jonathan Randall Andrews", he says with a big smile on his face.

"Todd," she says looking up at him in disbelief.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't resist," he says. Tea stomps out the door in front of him.

"Are you coming or not?" she yells over her shoulder.

"Hey, that's my line," he yells back. He steps out of the cabin closing the door behind himself.

Tea is already in the car when he gets there. He gets in the drivers side and starts the ignition. He looks over at Tea to see if she is really mad at him. Despite herself she can't help but laugh.

"Yeah, that's what I thought", he says with a smirk on his face. His face once again turning serious he asks one last time, "You're sure?"

"Todd if someone had told me this morning that I would be running away with you I would have laughed in their face. But yes, I'm sure. I'm not sure that I understand why but I am sure."

"Well, where do you want to go?" he asks.

Tea realizes there is only one person in the whole world besides Todd that would never turn her away. "My Abuelita's," she states matter of factly.

"Okay New York here we come," Todd says driving away from the cabin.
