When Cedar Point announced that they were building a 310 foot "giga-coaster" named Millenium Force we all knew someone was bound to try and break some of it's staggering statistics. Well, we were right.
D.H. Morgan Manufacturing will be building this huge coaster for the Nagashima Spaland in Mie, Japan. Nagashima Spaland is located 250 miles south of Tokyo and is the home to a wooden coaster, an S&S Sports Tower, a waterpark, a spa, and many more attractions.
D.H. Morgan and the Nagashima Spaland is teasing us with this coaster which is almost guaranteed to be a "giga-coaster". First of all they haven't even released it's name, second they are not giving us the exact statistics. All we know that it is going to be the world's longest rollercoaster having a length over 8,000 feet. They also have told us that it will be Morgan's tallest coaster and it will have a speed over 90mph.
.........................................................
The Nagashima Coaster will be so big that according to the Senior Ride Engineer, Steve Okamoto, "It (the Nagashima Coaster) has three parts, each of which has enough thrills for a ride itself." Once you go down the first drop you will encounter two more giant hills, after that you go through a multi-element spiral section. This part will start off with a turning dive towards the ground at 70mph, then you will go into a slanted loop and then a high-banked turn. The third part of the ride has eight camelback elements or "dips" before returning to the station.
The Spaland Coaster will be located at the north entrance of the park and will almost span across the whole park. They are expecting to have this coaster ready by August 2000.
