Last friday Knott's Berry Farm filed a $6.2 million lawsuit against TOGO International, a Japanese ride manufacturer who built the park's Windjammer. The park wants the $6.2 million for the money that they have spent on the coaster. They also want TOGO to come and take the coaster away. The ride has been closed off and on sinced it opened. The ride's design flaws make it almost impossible for the trains to complete a full circuit on the track in winds of 25 mph or more, sometimes even in winds as low as 3 mph. The ride will not be reopened until the lawsuit is settled.
The Windjammer is a racing steel coaster which opened in 1997. It is definitely not a favorite among park guests because of the painful and jerky ride. TOGO is known for building poor rollercoasters that include massive head-banging.
