Objective:  URGENT UPDATE!  REAL ESTATE VALUES IN BEVERLY HILLS HAVE GONE SKY HIGH.  ALTHOUGH THE GATES FOUNDATION IS STILL WILLLING TO DONATE LAND TO FUNSTUFF, INC. FOR THE COMPUTER- TECHNOLOGY CAMP, THEY ARE NOW ONLY WILLING TO DONATE THE LEAST VALUED LAND -- THE LAND WHICH IS MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE.

The most inexpensive land has been donated to FUNSTUFF, INC. to build the computer-technology center and camp.  Your firm supervisor will advise your team of which substrate was donated.  Your team must design a building that is within the parameters indicated by FUNSTUFF, INC. and sturdy enough to withstand a possible earthquake.  Only particular materials are available and you will be restricted by a limited budget.  Therefore, while designing the building your team must consider the size requirement, the materials available, the cost, the substrate that the building will be built upon, and the fact that the building will be in an earthquake zone.  Each member of the team will need to submit a preliminary design to the firm supervisor before collaborating with other team members to begin work on a group design.  The group will be responsible for agreeing on a design, drawing the design to scale, listing materials and cost, and writing a proposal selling the team design to the supervisor.  Good luck!

• design and create a drawing of a building that addresses the building requirements
• include a list a materials and an estimate of cost
• briefly describe the reasons why you chose the design that you did
• submit the above to the firm supervisor

• review and discuss all individual designs
• either choose the best design or modify the existing designs for one team design
• draw the team design to scale
• list all materials used and the amount of the material required
• estimate the cost
• briefly describe the reasons that your team developed its particular design and why FUNSTUFF, INC. should choose your design
• orally present your design and above information to the firm supervisor

When your design is approved by the firm supervisor, building may begin!!!!
