The show came to East Lansing, Michigan on December 14th. I saw the show on Wednesday the 15th. All day long in school, I was excited to get home and get dressed for the show at 7:00. I first saw the show on PBS last year, and I really liked it a lot. I got the Video for Christmas and loved it even more. It got me involved in dancing and singing even more than usual! I started taking ballet and have been doing it ever since. Back to the show! My mother, sister and I went to a nice restaurant before going the Wharton Center. Finally we got to there after what seemed like a very long time. We had very good seats-8th row right! Then the lights dimmed and the overture began. |

| My heart was pounding very hard and I kept on saying to myself "This could change my life, This could change my life." Then I saw Demeter dart across the stage. All the Cats began to emerge! It was soooo sweet! Jennyanydots and The Beetle Tattoo were great; much better than the video! The Rum-Tum-Tugger was very funny! He picked an old lady out of the audience; It was great! Soon after that, my favorite characters let out the famous giggle followed by 'Shish!'. Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer were on the stage. I was disappointed in how un-energtic Rumpleteazer was; she became winded very quickly. But she still was better than me and was on the stage, so I loved it! The Jellicle ball was incredible!!!! Because of my knowledge of ballet and since I had seen the movie 400 times, I knew basically what it was like to do it. They did it to absolute perfection. There was a stand-in playing Grizabella and she had a magnificent voice. After the intermission, I was introduced to Growltiger and Griddlebone for the first time; I loved it! I was impressed by Skimbleshanks and then Macavity showed up. I loved watching Bombalurina and Demeter kick it on stage. Pouncival and Mungojerrie joined the group; If they would have done some lifts on the women it would have made more sense! Mr. Mistoffelees if obviously the best male dancer I have ever seen!! My sister, quote-UN-quote, said he had 'wings'. Time was winding down... Grizabella appeared to sing her ever so famous song, 'Memory.' When she belted out 'TOUCH ME!' , my entire body lit on fire. It was beautiful. They did the final songs and each individual actor came out and I was one of the first people to stand up! The show was great and I saw it two other times that week! For those stories, look at the next chapters! I encourage you to see the show on stage if you have not already! It is much better then the video! See ya! CAST (in amphibolical order) |
