Sheila's Tour of Western Europe

In the fall of 1998, I recieved a brochure in the mail from an organization called People to People Student Ambassadors. I had gotten pamphlets from them for a few years back for different trips but couldn't make it each year because of various reasons. Finally this year (summer of 1999) I could finally make it and was psyched!

After getting the pamphlet I found out that the trip for the upcoming year was a tour of Western Europe. I immediately requested further information and attended an information meeting. From there, I sent in my application and went for an interview (yes, you have to go to an interview so they can screen you and decide to accept you or not...it's mandatory). A few weeks later, I found out that I was accepted (and so was my interview buddy which I was very happy about).

For the next few month, I got a lot of different information in the mail and from Feburary to June, I attended monthly information/orientation meetings. There we were given the explore booklet, even more information, and group projects. I decided to do my research on Belgium. Along with my group, we gave our presentations as smurfs, painted our faces blue(LoL, long story...), and brought in Belgium chocolate to share with the whole delegation.

Soon, it was July and it was time to leave for our trip. So without further adieu, I present my journal with descriptions of the places that me and 43 others visited and a few fond memories of my trip for everyone to look at. I hope you enjoy it and by the way, all feedback is welcome!
