Chapter Six

"How much do you know?" Liz asked Leslie, finally meeting her glare.

"Enough to know that you and I are going to sit down and have a long girl talk. Tomorrow, of course, right now we have to get you back to your hotel and ready for your night out with Brian."

"Brian?? What's that all about?" Liz inquired as she and Leslie pushed their way through the less crowded airport.

"I'll tell you while we shop for clothes to tide you over till your luggage comes back to you," Leslie stated matter-of-factly as she pushed Liz and her one remaining piece of luggage into the back of an awaiting limo.

After Leslie told the driver directions to the nearest Gap store, she sat back in her seat and let out a long exasperated sigh. This one's going to be a handful, she thought to herself, but I have a good feeling about her.

"Now what about this night out with Brian?" Liz asked.

Seeing how she wasn't going to avoid the subject any longer, Leslie threw her hands toward the sky and faced Liz. "I told the guys that if one of them went with you, then the rest could have a day off. Well, I don't know what you said to Brian, but after he returned from chasing you he told the guys-who were still arguing by the way-that he wold take you out. Maybe he sees that there's more to you than what meets the eye," Leslie finally finished, using her Glare of Death once again.

Liz remained silent, maybe she was wrong, just maybe these people did want to get to know her. She was jarred from her thoughts as the limo came to a stop and Leslie resumed the task of dragging her along.

Almost 3 hours later the 2 left the Gap armed with what seemed like a million shopping bags. Much to Liz's surprise, Leslie had picked up the tab, stating it as a business expense. Liz now had a wardrobe that made a fashion statement, unlike the clothes she was used to wearing.

Upon returning to the hotel, Leslie immediately began the task of preparing Liz for later that night. "I talked to Brian on the phone while you were changing and I told him to dress casual and pick you up in 2 hours, which means we have to get a move on," Leslie smiled as she heard Liz groan from behind the shower curtain.

Although Leslie hadn't gotten Liz to fully open up, the shopping trip had done wonders for their budding friendship, Leslie had done most of the talking, babbling nonstop; she did manage to pry a few details of Liz's life from her. She had found out that Liz came from a very competitive family and that her father was against her taking this job. Not a lot to go on, but Leslie was sure that Brian could pull the rest from her.

At exactly 8, Brian knocked on the door. An excited Leslie left a nervous Liz to let him in. Liz wasn't wearing anything special, just a pair of Khakis and a Gap tee with a sweater tied around her waist in case it got cooler. Brian too, had Khakis on but with a Phat Farm tee.

After Leslie talked their ears off about what time they had to get up and the busy day that was in store for them, Brian and Liz were off on their "business" date.

First, they went to the All Star Cafe and ate their meal in silence. Brian would occasionally break the silence by coughing or clearing his throat, but Liz never opened her mouth.

After the waiter had cleared their dishes, Brian finally spoke. "So umm Liz, why don't we get to know each other? I mean, talking to me isn't all that bad, I consider myself pretty easy to talk to. And besides, I think talking to me is less painful that facing Leslie, don't you?"

Liz only nodded in response, while Brian glared at her disapprovingly. "Yes," she managed to squeak out.

"Well, since you don't seem to be in a talkative mood, how about I start? Let's see, where to start?" he sat there with his thumb by the corner of his mouth and his pointer finger resting on his chin---deep in thought.

I might as well talk now, Liz thought. "Your full name is Brian Thomas Littrell. You were born February 20, 1975, making you 24 years old and a Pisces. Your favorite color is midnight blue. You recently had heart surgery but you are doing fine now. Nick Carter is your best friend, and Kevin Richardson is your cousin. You were born in Lexington, Kentucky. And last, but not least, your favourite food is macaroni and cheese." Brian just stared at her stunned.
