All five of them sat there in shock, they had finally gotten a much needed day off and they had to spend it with someone they didn't know, or wanted to, for that matter. After all, none of their other PAs, (Personal Assistants), had stayed more than a week, why should they take the time to get to know her when she would be gone soon?
Each of them began to glare at this woman who dared to take away their day off, it was finally Kevin who spoke.
"No offense Leslie, but we really need this day off, can't we get to know her while we're on the road?" he asked.
"No, I'm sorry Kev, it has to be today or you don't get the day off," Leslie replied.
Liz could feel the tears begin to well up in the corners of her eyes, she hated the way they were making her feel with their stares.
"Well, I'm sorry Leslie, but we aren't going to do it, we haven't seen our friends in almost a year, we deserve this day off," Kevin said, his voice getting louder with every syllable.
The rest of the BSB turned their eyes from Liz to look at Kevin. Their eyes were big as they stared up to the eldest member of their group. They all knew not to argue with Leslie, she was small, but she packed a big punch.
Liz and the guys could do nothing but stand by as Leslie rose from her seat to face the 6'1" frame of Kevin. "Listen here Mr. Richardson," she yelled while poking her finger into his chest with every word, "I don't care what you want or don't want, you will do as I say," she finished, shoving him down into the chair which he came from.
Kevin was about to open his mouth to protest when Howie spoke up, "Look, let's not fight, why don't we come to a compromise?" he suggested, hoping to relieve the thickening tension in the room.
Leslie didn't take her glare off of Kevin as she agreed with Howie, "Alright, you all don't have to go with Liz, you can pick one of you to go, the rest will have their day off."
Liz couldn't believe what she was hearing, no one wanted her here, and to tell the truth, she didn't want to be there. All this time she had stood quietly in the middle of the room, watching the scene unfold in front of her, too afraid to move. She took one last look at the five guys she was sent to work for, who were arguing intently over who would go with her, and bolted out of the room; mumbling something about making a mistake and that she was sorry for wasting their time.
Liz had gotten about halfway down the corridor when she heard footsteps behind her. Thinking it was Leslie, she stopped and turned around to face her wrath, only to come face to face with Brian. Stunned, she turned around to continue her run away from him, away from everything, back to the life she felt safe in. Instead of running back to her old life, she was caught in this new one, when Brian grabbed her arm.
"Wait, let me apologize for what happened back there, the guys aren't always like this," he told her, his blue eyes pleading with hers.
Liz didn't answer him, she just continued to stare at him, hoping to have the same effect on him that Leslie did. Brian realized what she was doing and began to laugh quietly. "What do you think you're doing? So now you are going to laugh at me? Great, thanks for making this such a great day for me Brian," Liz stated.
Brian, never breaking his laugh, told her, "Do you really think that will be as effective as when Leslie does it?"
Deciding to play extremely stupid Liz answered, "What are you talking about?"
Brian stopped laughing when he saw the look on Liz's face. "I'm sorry, I thought you were trying to imitate Leslie's Glare of Death."
"Look it's obvious you don't want to be here so stop pretending you do by making jokes," Liz told him.
"I'm sorry, I was-----" Brian started.
"Look, just tell Leslie that I'm sorry and tell the rest of the guys they got their wish, I'm going home." With that Brian watched as she walked down the hall, away from all that scared her, away from her big chance to be someone.
