Marc is asking her not to be there because he doubts her love for him. Jennifer lets him know that it is important to both of them that she is there because she wants to share this time together out of love.
Marc does not want her to love him because it would be a lie and it would be only because he is dying. She refuses to leave him. There is a flash back to happy days of their love and care for one another. There are some tender moments between the two. Including tender moments of when he is sick.
Marc’s part is very convincing. He is seen attempting to pick himself up off the bed and falters…Jennifer attempting to help…he waves her off. He also doubles-over in pain walking down a hallway and she tenderly attempts to pick him up and then is seen wiping his face as he sits in a chair only capable of staring into her caring face.
They have a break-through to love each other for always, when walking in what seems to be a park. Jennifer convinces Marc that their love deserves to soar and it matters to no one but them and begs him not to leave her all alone. Marc walks away from her and she follows stopping him and they embrace, lovely, as Marc sings…Don’t leave me… don’t leave me…Don’t listen when I say “don’t love me” and Jennifer says she will always love him.
The camera angles are beautiful and Marc and Jennifer fit very well together. You can see why the general public thought they were having a loving relationship together off camera. They are very convincing together.
Then as they lie in bed together. Jennifer is lying on her side not facing Marc. Marc is on his back. Marc sings…"Don’t love me… I’ll only make you suffer my heart has turned cold with this"… he then leans over to her neck brushing back her hair and kisses her. She is awake, but not willing to turn over to face what she knows is happening. Marc lies back motionless. Jennifer is then seen lying on his grave dressed in black. She walks through the cemetery and onto a hilltop where walking stride for stride behind her is Marc all dressed in WHITE. Her angel forever still pleading…Don’t love me…
