The McGuinness Family
First Generation
A Patrick MCGUINNESS* was born in Ireland
and he had a sister, Mary Ann who married a HART.
Patrick married Mary O'NEILL*, who was also born
in Ireland. I believe they immigrated with some or all of their children in 1866. Patrick and Mary had 7 children:
John (A1), Frank* (A2), Anne
(A3), Margaret (A4),
James (A5), Bridget (
A6) and Richard (A7).
Second Generation
A2 Frank MCGUINNESS* was born about 1856 in
Northern Ireland. He died 4 November
1891 at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark, NJ. He was
killed in a train accident at Penn Railroad at Market
Street crossing in Newark, NJ. He lived in NJ for 25
years and lived at 40 Bowery St. in Newark at the time
of his death. He was a Freeholder and a butcher.
On June 11, 1884, Frank married Alice O'CONNELL*
at Saint James-Catholic, Newark, Essex, New Jersey. Alice was b. Feb 1864
and died after 1900.
Frank and Alice had 4 children:

(A24).
A3 Anne MCGUINNESS b. c 1851 in
Northern Ireland and d. c 1926. She
m. Andrew J. LIEBHAUSER, who was b.1850 and d. 1912.
Their children were: John (A31),

Helen (A33), Richard
(A34), Joseph (A35), and
Frank (A36).
A4 Margaret
MCGUINNESS (Sister Francis Mary S.S.J.)
A5 James
MCGUINNESS b.
April 1866 in New Jersey. On April 18, 1892, he married Theresa
SMITH at Saint James-Catholic, Newark, Essex, New Jersey. She was born
1871 in New Jersey.
Their children were: Frank (A51), Grace
(A52),
Adele (A53).
A6 Bridget
MCGUINNESS m. Patrick FARLEY on November 17, 1885 at Saint Aloysius-Catholic, Newark, Essex, New Jersey.
Their children were: Mary (A61),
Greta (A62),
Frank (A63), Agnes (A64).
A7 Richard M. MCGUINNESS born June 1861 in Ireland, and d. 20 Apr. 1927 in NJ.
On January 18, 1888, he m. Margaret
A. BLEWITT at Saint James-Catholic, Newark, Essex, New Jersey.
Margaret was born April 1864 in NJ, and d. 9 Apr. 1937. Richard was naturalized in 1891. Richard was a warden and Margaret was a matron at the jail. Richard is listed in the 1920 U.S. census in Newark, NJ, as living at 58 New Street with his wife, 7 children and sister-in-law Mary BLEWITT who was 60 years old at the time, and working as a cook in the prison.
Their children were: Mary (A71), Leo (A72),
Edward (A73), Agnes Veronica (A74), Frank (A75), Richard
(A76) and Margaret (A77).
Third Generation
A21
Charles MCGUINNESS b. July 1886 in NJ and died after 1930. In 1930
he was living in Nutley, NJ with his sister Nellie Hahn and her family.
A22 John F. MCGUINNESS* was married
c1911 to Maud Anna WRIGHT*. He was born 29 Apr. 1885 in Newark, NJ. He died 13 July
1958 in Newark. Maud was born in 1887, and died 10 March 1953. They are both
buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, Morris County, NJ. John and Maud had two sons John and Francis John*
(A221).
A23 Nellie MCGUINNESS b. July 1888 in
NJ. Around 1917, she married
George HAHN who was born c1889. They were living in Nutley, NJ in
1930.
Their children were: John (A231),
and Alice (A232)
A24 Catherine
MCGUINNESS b. December 1890 in NJ. She m. Walter MURRAY and later,
Thomas JUDGE.
Catherine and Walter had the following children:
Walter (A241) and Robert
(A242).
A31 John E. LIEBHAUSER b. 1890
and d. 1931. He m. Anna CASSIDY, who was b.
1886 and d. 1925.
They had a son, Andrew
(A311).
A32 Mally (Margaret) LIEBHAUSER m.
Thomas NEILAN c 1900. Both were born c1877 in NJ and died after
1930. In 1930 they were living in Newark, NJ.
Their children were: Frank (A321), Thomas (A322),
Herbert (A323), and Vincent (A324).
A33 Helen LIEBHAUSER m. Arvin
SCHMID.
A34 Richard
LIEBHAUSER born c 1880 in NJ. In 1920 he was a salesman. He m.
Jeanette NIMMO. She was born c 1879 in NJ.

A35 Joseph
LIEBHAUSER b. July 1874 in NJ. On June 19, 1895, he
m.
Mary Genevieve GAVAN at Saint Columba-Catholic, Newark, Essex, New Jersey.
She was born August 1872 in NJ.
Their children were: Florence (A351), Rosemary (A352),
Gertrude (A353), Leo (A354), Joseph
(A355).
A36 Frank LIEBHAUSER b. c1878
in NJ and m.
Charlotte BROWN and later Bella HAMPE.
Their children are: Wilfred (A361),

Frank (A363), Andrew (A364),
and Marguerite (A365).
A52 Grace MCGUINNESS b. April 1895 in
NJ m.
Fred ATKINS. He was born c1894.
A53 Adele (Adeline) MCGUINNESS b.
August 1899 in NJ and she m.
Clifford MATHEWS.
They had a son, Richard (A531).
A61 Mary FARLEY m. Daniel
KUHN.
Their children were: Daniel V. (A611) and Margery
(A612).
A62 Greta FARLEY m. Charles
SHEEHAN.
They had a son, Richard (A621).
A63 Frank FARLEY m. Mary
BROWN and later, Florence MORROW.
Frank and Mary had a son, Richard (A631).
A64 Agnes FARLEY m. John
BEGLEY.
Their children are: Aileen (A641) and John J.
(A642).
A71 Mary MCGUINNESS was born August 1889 in New Jersey. In 1920 she was the Secretary for the Board of Health.
A72 Leo MCGUINNESS was born c. 1902 and he m. Helen
OEHM.
A73 Edward MCGUINNESS born June 1891 and married
Mary SMITH. In 1920 he was an electrician at a factory.
Their children are: Edward (A731)
and Eugene (A732).
A74 Agnes Veronica MCGUINNESS born
11 Jan. 1898 in Washington D.C. In 1920 she was a stenographer. On 15 Nov.
1922, she m. Dr.
William RUMAGE, who later m. Anne FARLEY. Agnes died 28 Nov.
1937.

A75 Francis MCGUINNESS born June 1894 in New Jersey. In 1920 he was a printer at a factory.
A76 Richard M. MCGUINNESS Jr. was born
November 1899 in NJ. He m. Mary M. CREAN.
Their children are:
Richard, Mary, Robert A. and Thomas P.
A77 Margaret M. MCGUINNESS born c. 1908 in New Jersey.
She married John HEARN. Their children are: Gerald and Ellen.
Fourth Generation
A221 Francis John MCGUINNESS* was
born 6 September 1912 on Lafayette Street in Newark, NJ.
He passed away 16 March 1996 in Ridgewood, NJ. He
lived in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, South Africa for
several years. He attended Columbia University in
New York and was in the U.S. Army. Frank married
Rita Jean GILMOUR* (See GILMOUR A152).
They had 5 children.
