Eagle’s Nest Family Campground • Milton, DE • August
16-17, 2002

An exclusive view of the
audience from stage. I’m the one in the black shirt, one of over a dozen
pictures with me on it. Now I can say for sure that I was there.

LambJam is a yearly two-day event that
had ongoing concerts throughout the day. The event was held in Milton, DE –
about 70 miles south of Wilmington, DE, and about 100 miles from
Philadelphia. Most of those who attended
this event were from Delaware, although a good handful were from the
Philadelphia area.

LambJam, like Creation, was an outdoor
gathering and offered camping on the premises. It also had a prayer tent, a
tent where you can meet the CCM artists, and a variety of food vendors. The
places there was to do business with the state of Delaware were porta-johns,
which were newer and cleaner than Creation’s. Although, I’ve really had a great
time in the Lord for the most part, I haven’t been to an event better than
Creation.

Denver and the Mile High
Orchestra
Unlike Creation, LambJam overall was
smaller and had less people, so you can breathe easier in this event. There
weren’t as many artists and speakers in this event. There was no Hallelujah
Highway, and the walk to and from my car was much shorter. It also had a more
commercial approach as Christian radio stations and other businesses sponsored
the event.

There were no offerings to be taken,
and there were no charities supporting or being sponsored by LambJam, so there
was no one constantly encouraging us to sponsor a child. Despite the much
smaller crowds, it was harder to manifest the warmth and openness during most
of the event, as the majority seemed to have stayed amongst themselves.

Nichole Nordeman
Some of the people I’ve met at LambJam
have already gone to Creation at one time or another, or would like to go.
There were a few people – especially near the end of Pillar’s performance mentioned
something about that event.

I was warmly welcomed by a swarm of
flies before I got out of the car good enough!
There were as many as seven flies in my car at one time (and were still
in there the next day) before I can even take my chair and bag of goodies to
the stage. They were flying all over me during the course of the day. It’s a good thing I
brought a can of bug repellent. I sprayed it all over me.

Pillar - from where I was
sitting
I came in time to see The Pedestrians
perform. They were pretty good. After then, there was an hour-long dinner
break. I already had Chinese food on the way, so I wasn’t hungry.
A panoramic picture of one
of my most favorite bands, Pillar. I didn’t know my camera took those kind of
pictures
Although
it’s my first time listening to this band, I think they were the best and most
spirit-filled band that played on Friday.
They’ve performed for about an hour or so.

Pillar
The
lead singer told us his testimony of how he and the rest of the band came. He
said that he overslept, and missed the plane, caught another, and arrived at
LambJam on time. They were really playing their hearts out, and put on a great
show. I’d really love to see them perform again, and I think they should
headline an event. What do you think? No one will ever regret seeing them in concert!

Jeffrey Dean
One of the few surprises that LambJam
gave us was a speaker named Jeffrey Dean from Nashville, TN. He was a pretty good
speaker. I just think it was a short break between the performances.

They were another anointed band. They
have a fairly new lead singer by the name of Rick Heil, who was introduced in
2001, and replacing Jeff Deyo, who went on to do solo works. Most of their set
was songs from their latest album Resonate.

Another cool picture from this
great band.
I truly liked seeing their concert
better than hearing their CD. Their performance was not made for the sake of
entertainment, but they truly wanted us to participate in worshiping God
throughout their performance. I was really deep into the Lord throughout their
set.

The lead singer from Skillet.
Behind him – a cute drummer.
A few of my Creation friends were not
only telling me about how good Pillar was, but also how anointed this
techno-based band, known as Skillet. They’ve put on a spectacular show. What I
find so cool about this group is the keyboardist and the drummer in that group.
They were the hottest girls that performed in LambJam.

I came back in time to see Kim Lawman.
She was not someone I would write a news article on, but she was okay.

They were on for the second day in a
row. I think they gave us just enough anointing to sorta warm us up for the
rest of the day. Their style was more Pop-like. They were pretty good.

Denver and the Mile High Orchestra’s
style were unique because a Big Band performed it. They’ve performed with jazz,
swing, and blues flavors. They were really on fire for Christ. I’ve seen the
guy with the blue hair that played the guitar was really into what he was
doing! Man he was on fire for Christ that day.

She was a great singer, who reminds me
of Crystal Lewis in appearance and style, although mellower. Like the Crystal
Lewis concerts that I’ve been to in Wilmington, DE and Camden, NJ, Nikki was
performing to pre-recorded music.
Joy
Williams - CANCELED
She was supposed to perform before
Nichole Nordeman, but her concert was unfortunately canceled because she wasn’t
feeling well that day. Disappointing? Yes, but she wasn’t the main reason I
came to the event anyway. She might come to another event sometime soon.

Nichole’s just getting started
with her performance.
I could barely tell her and Joy apart
at first, but she started her set early due to the cancellation of Joy Williams.
She is a very nice person, and I’ve seen her a lot on the piano. A soft, mellow
style similar to Sarah McLachlan gives her set a very refreshing and relaxing
feeling.

He is another mellow performer, but
cool.

The Out of Eden sisters gettin’
the groove on. Left to Right: Lisa Kimmey, Joy Danielle Kimmey, and Andrea Baca.
Out of Eden
One of the main reasons for coming to
LambJam was to see Out of Eden. Out of Eden had performed an excellent set of
music, even though I could barely make out their vocals during portions of
their performance. Their set was mostly songs from their past couple of albums.
They sang my favorites, including Window (which had an infectious beat),
and Different Now. Their set was excellent, and one of the best
performing that day.

I guess Lisa’s camera shy…
After their performance, I’ve brought
one of the CDs that I already purchased, and took it to the tent, where they
were waiting for us. The line seemed VEERRRY long, but fortunately my friendly
approach, as usual, tends to make long lines move much faster. A passer-by
kinda scares us into thinking they were leaving in 40 minutes. (I later spoke
to him before leaving.) I’ve talked to
a few other people during the wait. They were nice people from a town called
Delmar, DE, not far from Salisbury, MD. It was their first time at LambJam, but
they also want to go to Creation. I’ve also shook hands with Delaware Senator
Ray Clatworthy (not that it really matters to me, because I live in Jersey).

Joy performs right in front of
us
Before long, The Katinas started
performing, and the line quickly diminished to a point where we were very close
to OOE. When it was my turn to meet Out of Eden, I’ve told them how
great their No Turning Back album was, and I shook hands with the
threesome, and they signed the cover of my CD. The threesome was a pleasure to
meet.

I was a little late in coming to their
performance, obviously because I was waiting to get Out of Eden’s autograph.
I’ve figured you’ve gotta take a sacrifice somewhere along the line. The
Katinas were another anointed Christian rock band. This band has a unique
flavor that contains impressions of Lenny Kravitz. They’ve sung mostly common
Christian songs, including I Could Sing of Your Love Forever and Open
the Eyes of My Heart.

You can’t ask for a better
picture from this foursome.
This was the very last performer in this
event. They spent a small portion of their time on stage trying to get
everything to perfection. Their performance was well worth the wait for this
talented band. This was a very sprit-filled set. They’ve performed songs from
their newest album – The Eleventh Hour. They’ve also performed my
favorites from their self-titled album, including Flood, and Sinking.
I’ve felt the Lord’s presence as they were performing. The show ended very much
like how Newsboys ended – very mellow, and slowly calming to a prayerful, and
hushed end.

By the time the Jars of Clay
performance was over, most of the people have already left to go home. All I
had to do was take my bag of goodies and chair back to my car. After packing my
chair and goodies in my car, I ran into the same guy that passed me by while
waiting for OOE’s autograph. His name was Paul, from Maryland. We’ve had a
short conversation before I went home.
I’ve left LambJam at a few minutes to
midnight, and arrived home at about 1:30 AM Sunday. Not much longer after
waking up on Sunday, I went to
LambJam’s
website to check out digital photos of the event. I saw that there were
over a dozen pictures (mostly audience pictures) that had me in it! There were
also good close-ups of most artists.
LambJam as an event was okay, despite
the flies and the constant aroma of manure, but it’s performances were
excellent, and definitely worth the coming. The only thing I might consider to
this event is giving another thought of going there next year.
