Mike PollockMike Pollock

47-Mike Pollock- Centre Back

“Polaccio”
Because Mike is most often seen shirtless to show off his ever growing tattoo collection ,he is often compared to David Beckham, only he never gets to have sex with Posh, however to his credit his voice is two octaves lower than the famous footballing englishman.

Pollock joined the club in the 2008 summer transfer window on a reported free transfer.

He previously was a co-founder of East Florham United with current Continentals the Bauer brothers. He has been quoted as "I left the faded glory of East Florham to join my former teammates in bringing glory and honor to The 1776."

Mike Pollock began his playing career as a late bloomer, debuting as a striker for former club East Florham United. Pollock used his speed, athleticism, and blatant disregard for the well-being of others to beat defenders to ball and send them to the turf. He was criticized for having a hard touch with little control and form. However, Pollock silenced the critics by being a consistent goal scorer for the 2007 season. He was a master goal poacher, managing to find a way to be at the right place at the right time, or forcing a defender or the keeper to make a mistake in the box and capitalizing on it.

During a game, Pollock was tried as a defender when the team was playing short-handed. Although he was rough around the edges, Pollock grew into this new role. He uses his physicality and aggression to fearlessly go into a challenge. His criticism of having a hard touch on the ball proves to be an advantage at clearing opposing passes out of the box. Most importantly, his experience as a striker gives him a sixth sense on how to beat defenders in the box, making him an added weapon on set pieces and counterattacks. His nickname is used deridingly, with a former basketball coach making the joke that Michael was the only kid from East Hanover without an Italian name. In a way, it is also an acknowledgement to the great Italian defenders of the world, like Cannavaro, Maldini, and Nesta. The name also resembles the Italian word catenaccio, an Italian philosophy of defensive counterattacking football. After a long hiatus from competing, Pollock signed with the Continentals for the fall 2008 season, joining former teammates Russell and Dylan Bauer.
