Dreamation event: Saturday night – “It Started With a Book”

Event Description: While searching through an old library, a 'scholar' found an interesting book, and in this book was a handwritten scrap of paper. It was a sketch of up-to-now unknown caverns under a hills better avoided. He promises a reward and valuable loot, since the local authorities won't go. By the looks of the scholar, it promises to be an interesting adventure.

More Details: The location of this adventure is set in Rhudaur, once one of the 3 Northern Kingdoms of Arnor. Now it is mostly wild borderlands where a few civilized folks try to eke out an existence, and where some Dunedain again dream of re-establishing a great realm. The site is less than a day away from the town of Maig Tuira, which has been the scene of previous adventures bringing great fame, glory and riches upon previous adventurers. Little is spoken of those who died, or how they did die. Fame remembers the Victors!

A map has been found by Mournegrim the caretaker, of the hills to the south. There is an ancient 'Stone Circle' there, with caverns rumored beneath. Now this map suggests the layout within. He brought this to Sir Trisaval, requesting an expedition by town forces to investigate. Although turned down, he did not forbid an independent operation. So Mourne has sent a call for mercenaries, treasure hunters and glory seekers. He considers the pickings to be lean, but go forward. Its up to you now!

Characters offered about 5th level:

Dunval, Taredain (lesser Dunedain) Scout – You are a local scout of the town, having arrived after the earlier legendary events occurred. Although usually a very levelheaded man, the stories of their previous heroes adventures and ensuing wealth have provided too great a temptation.

Virgis Verenis, Northman Squire – You are a well-trained squire from the nearby town of Thuinbold. This adventure will be your first without your mentor and could propel you to knighthood. Armed with strong belief and great pride, failure and cowardice are not an option.

Gaermon Stoneface, Dunlending Warrior – You come from a local tribe having a difficult winter. The tribe elders forbid this, declaring it is wrong to disturb the dead. But you felt you had to come because the loot promised here would greatly help your people. For them you are loyal and fearless.

Verrill the Pure, Eredrim Priest of Issar – These poor sheep are ignorant of the grave dangers and corruption they will face. You come to smite the evil magic (to you, all magic is evil) and show them the ‘true way’ and will protect them, even from themselves if need be.

Guerin Gardasso, Eredrim Warrior (Undead Hunter) – You still have nightmares of the night your family was consumed by the horrors of the Undead. Since then you have dedicated your life to destroying the ‘dead that still walk’, even at the peril of your own existence and afterlife.

Singa Jain, Easterling Horse-Archer – Once a great warrior of a respected (and feared) tribe, their destruction was your disgrace. You have waited a chance to redeem your honor and find a way to deliver vengeance on those responsible. This may be that chance.

Orvid Quickhands, Northman/Eredrim Rogue – Yes, ghosts and zombies and ghouls, oh my. But here is where the legends began and you’ll not miss this chance for treasure and fame! Having only one friend to protect you, you’re sure you’ll be needed for all the traps and treasure … right?

Farika, Eredrim Scout – A blacksmith’s son, you go on this dangerous adventure to prove yourself and escape from under your father’s apron. While ignoring most of his advice (especially about doing something like this with a bunch of strangers), you did take the good sword he made you.
