Lyrics
Dead Man Walking
Redemption is my only way
I've done my crime and now I'll pay
Here comes the jailer down the hall
There ain't a chance in hell that the governor
will call.
There's a dead man walking his last steps
There's a heart broken family ain't gonna
forget
I never thought too much of life
Justice for me was a gun or a knife
I'd get jacked up fucked up out every night
Running the roads looking to fight
There's a dead man talking his last words
The preacher man prayed for me but I don't
think the lord heard
There's a dead man walking his last steps
There's a heart broken family ain't gonna
forget
There's a dead man talking his last words
The preacher man prayed for me but I don't
think the lord heard
The thought of it it runs through my head
At the stroke of the clock they're gonna kill
me dead
I never said I was sorry before
Even when
that man lay dying on the floor
There's a dead man walking his last steps
There's a heart broken family ain't gonna
forget
There's a dead man talking his last words
The preacher man prayed for me but I don't
think the lord heard
My Hawaiian Shirt
I do believe in my afterlife
I was a Polynesian king
I fight the urge to luau
And wear a big nose ring
I love to play my ukulele all day
While strolling in the sand
And when I'm wearing my favorite shirt
My arms get nice and tan
My favorite shirt is my Hawaiian shirt
Cause when I'm wearing it, I can't be hurt
And all the hula girls wanna give me a lei
I think they're tryin' to flirt
Cause I look so good in my Hawaiian shirt.
I'm gonna build me a grill at the top of a hill
Heated by an old volcano
Bar B Q, some key lime pie
Some poipoi in my refrigerator
Fill me a coconut full of rum and juice
And stick in a little umbrella
When I'm wearing my favorite shirt
I'm one happy fellow
My favorite shirt is my Hawaiian shirt
Cause when I'm wearing it, I can't be hurt
And all the hula girls wanna give me a lei
I think they're tryin' to flirt
Cause I look so good in my Hawaiian shirt.
My little Polynesian queen rubbed coconut cream
We sail away in the sun
And when I'm wearing my favorite shirt
I'm having too much fun
My favorite shirt is my Hawaiian shirt
Cause when I'm wearing it, I can't be hurt
And all the hula girls wanna give me a lei
I think they're tryin' to flirt
Cause I look so good in my Hawaiian shirt.
I'm Just A Hop Head
I'm just a Hop-head
And so I'll be 'til I'm dead
I started hopping
When first I hopped into bed
I took up hopscotch
Which had me hopping all day
But that was kid stuff
And soon I put it away
I took up fishing
And when the river was low
I took to hopping
From stone to stone, fish or no
I'm a Hop Head!
As I grew older
I took up sailing at sea
Went island-hopping
A navigational spree
I'm now a space-man
My flying saucer is fast
Though slow in coming
I'm planet-hopping, at last
I've reached my limit
No wider worlds to be won
I'm so unhappy
I wish I'd never begun

My Tree
Have you ever seen my tree?
It's a beautiful thing.
If you start walking to the sun and look for
deep green meadows and rolling hills,
you
might find my tree.
If you sat under my tree and looked up, it
would appear that the limbs were holding up the
weight of the leaves,
the clouds and the whole sky.
My tree is bound firm to the ground by its roots.
(oh, how sweet)
My tree has to survive many long cold winters, but it is strong, it can take it.
(HOPPER, shut up about that tree)
My tree
brings life to everyone and everything in the
spring.
My tree is a beautiful thing.
(please shut
up about that tree!)
Did you hear that? I
hope so.
(what's up with that tree?)
(if
a tree fell in the forest and hopper was
sitting in it...would anybody listen?)
Today
I don't want you coming round here no more
I don't want you to ever darken my door
I don't care where you're at or what you're gonna do
I want you to know that this time I'm really through
And I don't wanna sound like an asshole
I really don't like being that way
And I don't wanna come off like a jerk
But I ain't got time for your stuff today
Today
Today
Today
Today
Listen to my heartbeat, it's beating too slow
Ain't no use in you standing there crying,
just go
Ain't gonna run away with my feelings again
But I want you to know that this time is really the end
And I don't wanna sound like an asshole
I really don't like being that way
And I don't wanna come off like a jerk
But I ain't got time for your stuff today
Today
Today
Today
Today
I don't want you coming round here no more
I don't want you to ever darken my door
I don't care where you're at or what you're gonna do
I want you to know that this time I'm really through
I want you to know that this time I'm really through
I want you to know that this time I'm really through
Lonely
Oh excuse me, are you alone?
Would you mind if I set a spell and talk with you?
Maybe later, I can walk you home
It's not like I got a lotta things to do
And I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
And I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
Pardon me if I sound a little crazy
But somewhere 'tween my head and my heart
Has gotten a little hazy
I really don't like living like this
But something deep inside of my soul is just amiss
And I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
And I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
I was hoping that maybe
You could mend this broken heart
I was hoping that you could fix
Something someone else has torn apart
I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
Well I'm sorry, but I gotta go
Will I ever see you again?
Well I just don't know
That feeling inside of me is tearing me apart
And I really don't know what to do,
How to do it or where to start.
I was hoping that maybe
you could mend this broken heart
I was hoping that you could fix
Something someone else has torn apart
And I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
And I'm so lonely, I'm so alone
Well excuse me, are you alone?
Beat Heart
I'm so sleepy I can't hold my eyes
Open for one more minute
There's so much stuff running through my
head
I can't seem to forget it
Beat heart
Beat again
Let me know you're still there
Beat heart, just one more time
I need a reason to care
They say no man is an island
I can taste the salt of the sea
It comes from a swell of emotion
Has time done that to me?
Beat heart
Beat again
Let me know you're still there
Beat heart, just one more time
I need a reason to care
I need a reason
I need a reason to care
I'm standing on the edge of the world
One shove and I'd be gone
I might be in need of some therapy
But try not to take too long.
Beat heart
Beat again
Let me know you're still there
Beat heart, just one more time
I need a reason to care
Left Me For Dead
I'll be damned if I remember what went wrong
It cooled off in September and you were gone
I'll be doggone if I know what went through your head
A little change of weather and you left me for dead
Watching the leaves fall as a cold wind blows
What makes a woman tick, well, I don't know
I picked up the paper and the headlines read:
Here lies a man who loved you and you left him for dead
You left me for dead and I don't know
I don't know how I feel about that
You left me for dead and I don't know
I don't know if you're ever coming back
Well, it could've been the season
You could've had your reasons
It could have been something I said
No matter how you count it
You left me for dead
The Truth
I don't believe that Elvis is still alive
I don't think that Nessie could have survived
I don't think ol' Big Foot is 8 ft. tall
I'd kinda like it if you would call
Now I believe that Superman could fly
And I think Santa was a heck of a guy
I've never seen a UFO in the sky
I believe everything you say and I don't know why
All I ever wanted from you was the truth
When I look in your eyes I can't refuse
They say the truth could set you free
I believe you owe that to me
I'd like to think I'm a reasonable man
Tell me the truth if you can
Tell me the truth
If you can
You be my angel, I'll be your man in the moon
You're my Venus when you walk in the room
A witchy woman I just can't tell
I do believe that you got me under your spell
All I ever wanted from you was the truth
When I look in your eyes I can't refuse
They say the truth could set you free
I believe you owe that to me
I'd like to think I'm a reasonable man
Tell me the truth if you can
Tell me the truth
If you can
Taking A Dive
I really don't like driving way across town
That bumper to bumper traffic really brings me down
Somedays I don't wanna put my feet on the floor
Somedays I don't even wanna walk out my door
Well, I guess you're wondering what's happening to me
Well, I'm starting to wonder what's happening to me
I'm taking a dive
I'm taking a dive
I can't watch one thing on my TV
I'm cruising the channels at blinding speed
My remote can't keep up with me
A picture in a picture in a picture is what I need
Well, I guess you're wondering what's happening to me
Well, I'm starting to wonder what's happening to me
I'm taking a dive
I'm taking a dive
All my dishes are piled in the sink
That week-old garbage is starting to stink
My grass needs mowed and my faucets all leak
And all of my laundry has done turned green
I guess you're wondering what's happening to me
I'm starting to wonder what's happening to me
I'm taking a dive
I'm taking a dive
I'm taking a dive
I'm taking a dive
