Irene Failenbogen, soprano
Alexander Wu, piano Sunday, December 3, 2000 Drawing on Ms. Failenbogen's extensive concert, opera and musical theater experience, the pair have developed a program integrating a variety of musical styles to express both the classical and contemporary sounds of her country. "I use my experience as a singer to be both Jewish and Argentinean," she says, "to weave Spanish, Hebrew, Italian and Yiddish pieces into one story." The music will range from the traditional tangos and folk rhythms from the streets of Buenos Aires to the Hebrew and Yiddish melodies that were less often heard under the Argentine dictatorship.
