"What Aim?"
"Kari, I-I'm pregnant."
"Oh Amy." Kari gave me a hug. "Did you tell Nick yet?"
"No, you're the first person I told," I sniffled. "I'm too afraid to tell my parents, they'll be so disappointed in me. And what about college, how can I possibly go if I have a kid to take care of? Nick will break up with me when I tell him."
"No he won't," Kari said soothingly. "Nick loves you, he'll understand."
"I don't know Kar, what if he does leave me? Then I'll be alone."
"No you won't, I'll help you."
"Thanks Kari, you're such a sweetheart. I guess I'd better tell Nick now."
"Do you want me to come with you?" Kari asked. "You know for like, moral support?"
I nodded. We got up and walked downstairs to the room Nick and Brian shared. "Hey girls," Brian greeted us as he opened the door. "Come on in."
Nick jumped up when he saw me and gave me a hug and kiss. "Hey baby."
Kari took Brian into the hallway so he wouldn't hear and I began to speak. "Nick there's something I have to tell you."
"What's wrong Amy?" Nick asked, concerned as he led me over to the bed.
"Remember that night a couple of weeks ago when we made love?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I-I'm pregnant," I managed to choke out before I started sobbing uncontrollably.
Nick sat in shock. "You-you're what?"
"I'm so sorry Nick!" I sobbed. "If you don't want to see me anymore, I'll understand."
Nick pulled me into a hug. "I'm not going to leave you Amy, I love you. I helped make this child, and I'm going to help raise it. Have you told your parents yet?"
I wiped my eyes. "No." I sighed. "They're going to be so upset with me. How can I possibly go to school with a child to take care of?"
"Don't worry," Nick assured me. "I'll take good care of you, I promise."
A Few Weeks Later...
When we came back to Miami for a concert, I decided I would tell my parents. It was better than telling them over the phone; this way they couldn't hang up on me.
"Nick, I don't know if I can do this," I said as we pulled up into the driveway of my parents home.
Nick smiled and kissed my forehead. "You can do it Amy, it's now or never."
I sighed as we got out of Nick's car and rang the doorbell. My younger sister Sam answered.
"Amy!" she shrieked, giving me a big hug. "I didn't know you were coming."
"Hey Sam. Where's Mom and Daddy?"
"They're in the living room with Regina. Ohmigod Aim, is that Nick Carter?"
Nick smiled. "Yeah, hi."
"Ohmigod, this is so cool," Sam gushed. "I'll tell Mom and Daddy you're here." She ran off.
Nick laughed. "Cute kid."
"Oh yeah, come on." I led Nick down the hallway and into the living room. "Hi Mom, Daddy."
"Amy!" Regina shrieked as she ran to gave me a hug. "And Nick Carter, ohmigod you're going out with Nick Carter?! OHMIGOD!!!!"
"Regina, please take Samantha upstairs," my father ordered.
"Oh man," Regina grumbled. "C'mon Sam." After Regina had dragged Samantha upstairs, Nick and I sat down with my parents.
"Mom, Daddy, this is my boyfriend Nick Carter," I said. "Nick, this is my mother Anne and my father George."
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Jonstone," Nick said politely. "It's nice to meet you both."
"You too Nick," my mother replied. "Now Amy dear, you have something to tell us?"
"Yes Mom." I took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant."
"You're what?!" my father screamed. "How could you Amy?!"
"George, your blood pressure, please calm down," my mother pleaded.
"And then you bring home the boy who did this to you?! Amy Marie what the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Daddy, please Nick didn't 'do this to me'. It was something I wanted too."
"Oh, so did he pay you for it?"
My mother gasped. "George!"
"No Daddy, he didn't," I replied on the verge of tears. "Nick loves me and I love him."
He scoffed. "You can't love someone at 18 years old! It's not possible! I'm absolutely disgusted with you Amy. I expected so much more from you. I want no part in the life of your child, and as far as I'm concerned you are not my daughter."
Nick stared at my father. "How can you say that to your daughter? Can't you see how upset she obviously is?"
"Listen you hooligan, you have no say in this matter. Amy, you are no longer welcome in this house."
"Daddy, you can't mean that!" The tears were flowing freely down my cheeks. "I made one mistake and right away it's 'get out of here you're not my daughter'? What the fuck kind of father are you?"
He got up and slapped me across the face. Stunned, I fell backwards.
"Don't you touch her again!" Nick warned.
"Ingrate! All the things I've done for you and this is how you repay me? I suggest you leave before I am forced to call the police." My father got up and stormed out of the room.
Nick gave me a hug. "It's alright Amy," Nick said soothingly as he tried to calm me down. "Mrs. Jonstone, what should we do?"
"It's probably best if Amy does leave," my mother said quietly.
"What?" Nick cried. "How can you just shun your daughter like that?"
My mother pulled me out of Nick's arms and gave me a hug. "I'm so sorry sweetheart."
"Get the hell off of me!" I screamed. "You aren't my mother!"
She gasped. "Amy-"
"Save it Anne. I'm saying good-bye to Regina and Sam and then leaving. You and George won't have to worry about your slutty daughter anymore." I grabbed Nick's arm and pulled him out of the room, leaving Anne crying on the couch.
"Well, I guess this is good-bye," I said as Regina, Sam, Nick, and I stood outside in front of Nick's car.
"Bye Amy," Sam said, her eyes full of tears. "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too Sam." I gave her a hug. "But I'll call you guys everyday, and as soon as the baby's born you guys can visit whenever you want."
"Bye Amy." Regina gave me a big hug. "I'll visit you all the time."
"Bye Regina." I climbed into Nick's car. "Well, I guess I'll see you guys."
"Bye!" My sisters called as we pulled out of the driveway.
"Well that went well," Nick sighed.
"I know. Anne and George are such assholes I swear to God. Who's going to take care of me when I'm big and fat and can't move?"
"I will."
"But what if you're on tour?"
Nick thought for a moment and then smiled. "My mom will!"
"Your mom? Are you sure she's not gonna be mad because I ruined her son's life?"
Nick shook his head. "No way! In fact, we'll go there right now."
I sighed as Nick drove down the parkway. I hoped his mother was more understanding. I didn't think I could take any more parental rage than I had already received that day.
