"Alissa...please..."
Alissa looked down into those piercing blue eyes that she loved so much.
Only this time, they were dull with pain. Forcing herself to look
away, she sadly stated, "Nick...I can't..." She could feel the tears stinging
at her eyes.
Forcing back tears of his own, Nick took a deep breath and said shakily,
"But...I'm sorry..."
Still looking at her feet, Alissa reanalyzed the situation. Nick
had just told her he'd cheated on her, and she didn't know what to do anymore.
All she knew was that the pain was real. She had given him everything...two
years of her life, her virginity, quite possibly her career...and this
was how he repaid her...
"It...it was an accident Lis...I-"
Alissa looked up at him, her eyes swimming with unshed tears. "An accident?!?
No Nick, stepping on someone's foot is an accident...sleeping with someone
you hardly even know is not..."
Nick swallowed hard, "Please..." He knew he'd messed up this time.
Alissa had been the first girl who he'd gotten close to that didn't care
about his fame. All she cared about was Nick Carter, not Backstreet
Boy Nick. And now he had ruined everything. As he looked up, Alissa
turned away.
"Alissa...please don't go..."
Alissa sighed with a heavy heart, "It's time for me to Nick...we can't
be together anymore..." The sadness was more than apparent in her
voice, and her every word stung Nick like a thousand needles. "We
had two wonderful years together, and I'll always carry the fond memories
with me...I'll never forget the love you gave to me Nickolas...but we can
only be together in
Nick took a deep breath, "Alissa...what do I have to do to prove to
you that I love you?"
Alissa turned to face him as she reached the doorway. He looked
like an innocent little boy who had just been scolded for stealing candy,
and it hurt to see him cry, but even though she couldn't feel the tears
cascading down her cheeks, she knew they were there.
As he reached to grab her arm, she gently pulled away, "Let me go Nick...just
let me go..."
those memories..."
