Saturday, April 24, 2004 was the first Feria de Sevilla in Philadelphia.
It was great! For those of you who wish to recall this great event,
or those of you who were unfortunate enough to miss it, I shall provide a summary.
Top 10 reasons you should not have missed the Feria in Philly:

This is a great example of #3. Here's Anna Rubio of Flamenco del Encuentro putting on an outstanding performance. The dancers of Flamenco del Encuentro- Mariah, Liliana and Anna each presented inspiring performances. Guest performers Edwin Aparicio and Marcos Marin knocked our socks off!
And here are some fine examples of #1. Lovely ladies wearing gorgeous flamenco costumes. They were provided by
Menkes of New York and were sold after the event, all for under $400.

And here's Lidia Jaldo (right, dancing) our fearless leader. Lidia coordinated this spectacular event. She along with many other people, mostly volunteers, such as Berta (left, hat)
worked hard to make the Feria happen. With sponsors like the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla and el Corte Ingles (Spain's great department store chain,) along with Raices Culturales this event was possible.

Here's an example of #7 (my favorite!) There were several casetas set up for people to enjoy dancing. This one was outside, which provided the most authentic experience. I felt as if I was in Spain again enjoying on of the many ferias I attended in Spain. Many people expressed the same sentiment.
And of course there was much singing and making merry. Antonia (far right) sang an homage, a salve. Miguelito (near right) from DC drove up to join us, and of course he didn't forget his guitar.
And as for items #8, 9 and 10 on the list? Here you have them. Tito, Toni and Anna, the coolest flamencos I know.
