Hotaru is a very quiet girl. When she 1st made her appearence in SMS, she was extremely weak & became tired very easily. However, Chibiusa befriended her since they were both kinda lonely outcasts. Hotaru had a dark past that no1 knew about: her crazy, alien-possessed father, Professor Tomeo, was raising her to be the silent messiah. Legend says that when 3 talisman are gathered, they will form the Holy Grail. If that grail were to fall into the hands of darkness, the world would be "silenced"... if it fell into the hands of light, it would be saved. Hotaru is transforms in Mistress 9 after swallowing Chibiusa's heart crystal. The evil alien entity that had been manifesting inside her (b/c of her crazy pop) was finally free. Every1 found out that Hotaru was also Sailor Saturn... but she couldn't awaken b/c she only comes to end the world (her only power). The Outer Senshi wanted to kill her b4 that happened, but Sailor Moon stopped them. Sailor Moon got a-hold of Holy Grail & the real Hotaru kept fighting inside. After a battle & huge explosion, Professor Tomeo was free of the entity & Hotaru reverted back into an infant. Then in SailorStars, Setsuna goes & gets baby Hotaru saying the time has come. Hotaru grows at an amazing rate & awakens as Sailor Saturn to help fight the new enemies. She carries a staff called the Silence Glaive & all her powers are majorly destructive.
