Fluffy's Worthless Interviews

This is my second interview for Fluffy's Worthless Interviews. The purpose of this page is to allow you, the person who actually goes to this site, to get to know a little about some folks in the local scene. Either that, or I just like asking ridiculous questions to captive audiences, one or the other!

Today (6/11/02) we bug Gian Chung, clarinet player for Drive-Thru Pharmacy, the world's only clarinet toting ska/rock band from Voorhees, NJ.

Fluffy: For purposes of me not wanting to write and intro, who are you?

Gian: I'm your worst nightmare or your dream come true... depends on which way your toilet flushes

Fluffy: Thank you Gian, clarinet player of Drive-Thru Pharmacy. Tell us a bit about your band...

Gian: Well, it's got too many Mikes. It used to have too many Asians... let's just tell everyone that it's a rock band with an odd sense of what's fun.

Fluffy: Anything else?

Gian: Yes, I am an original DTPer. I'm not much into punching people. I prefer glaring at them.

Fluffy: You play clarinet in a rock band, what is that like?

Gian: It's like drinking a straw when everyone else is drinking straight from those little milk cartons I used to get at lunch in public school.

Fluffy: Ha! Besides being the only clarinet player in a rock band around, you're well known for your crazy stage antics. What are some of your crazier ones?

Gian: The one that suprised me the most was stage diving into an air guitar solo during Heroes in Hawaiian Shirts in Pennsauken...

Fluffy: That one lives on in South Jersey lore.

Gian: ...and then there was that time Billus picked me up and played air Gian during the same song a couple of years later. Bloody Irish git.

Fluffy: What's your favorite band to play with?

Gian: I'm tempted to say Epestice... probably the Cherry Tarts, although I thought Orpheus was pretty cool too

Fluffy: How'd you crack into the local scene?

Gian: Um...being dragged in by a certain Mike. It was unintentional, trust me, and I don't think I've really cracked into the local scene, most people don't pay attention to the weird looking Asian kid with the long black straw.

Fluffy: Most people have trouble pinning DTP's sound down, what do you think the band sounds like? Who are it's influences?

Gian: Oy, I think it depends on the song. Ah screw it, who am I kidding? I'm DTP's biggest influence! =P. Although I think we've been more influenced by rock rather than Jamaican ska, but then again, I'm just the clarinet player.

Fluffy: In that case, who are some of your favorite bands?

Gian: Buck-O-Nine, The Toasters, Cherry Tarts, The Banana Factor... Chromelodeon is pretty cool too. I'm also a big fan of cows banging on barn doors

Fluffy: Me too! Now for some quick, hard hitting questions... Who is the greatest Flyer of all time?

Gian: Ron Hextall. He's the only one I know by name. Oh, there is that Lindross guy, but goalies are cooler.

Fluffy: Who's the worst Flyer, Alexandre Daigle or Alexandre Daigle?

Gian: Alexandre Daigle is by far, the... worst... Flyer... ever...

Fluffy: Good choice, what are some of your favorite movies?

Gian: Blues Brothers (the original one), the Monty Python ones, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and stuff by Hayao Miyazaki (yes, it's a bit out of place, deal)

Fluffy: Okay, because I am unorginal, some preference questions to wind down the interview... Letterman or Leno?

Gian: Neither, I prefer Red Green

Fluffy: Bruce or Bon Jovi?

Gian: they're both from NJ...who can say?

Fluffy: Salamanders or squirrels?

Gian: Squirrels

Fluffy: And a final hardhitting question, what's up with you and Godzilla?

Gian: I take his lunch money everyday. That's why he's so full angst. He likes to take it out on Tokyo every so often.

Fluffy: Any final comments?

Gian: Yeah... BLARG! Check out how we we're doing at garageband.com, we got some nice reviews. We also got a couple of Stupidest Song Awards, we rock!

Fluffy: Thank you Gian, everyone go check out Gian and his band, Drive-Thru Pharmacy at http://www11.brinkster.com/dtp. He'll also be appearing in a new ABC sitcom entitled "Where Your Pond Now?" starring Alec Baldwin.

Gian: haha
