2000-2001 Turkish 1.League - What's New
The Appearance The players will wear uniforms with their names on them. Each player will have the same number (1 to 99) for the season. The teams with five league championships will earn a star for their uniforms. Beşiktaş (9) and Trabzonspor(6) can wear one star each, but Galatasaray(14) and Fenerbahçe(13) can wear two stars. Game Rules The teams can field upto fıve foreign players at anytime during the game. Goalkeepers are not limited to four steps anymore. They can walk as much as they want, but they have to release the ball in six seconds. The referees will have more authority. They can dismiss a player with a red card because of the unwanted behaviour against the referees. Any player touching, or pushing the referee will be penalized by a red card. Any gestures with hand or arms will be penalized by a yellow card. Linesmen will also have more authoritıes. They can report the events as they witnessed to the referees if they are closer to the incident. Missing Names We will miss some familiar names since they retired from the game. "The Emperor" Oğuz Çetin, "King" Aykut Kocaman, Ünal Kocaman, Engin İpekoğlu as players Serdar Çakır, İlhami Kaplan, Erdal Güleç, Ayhan Yücebilgiç, and İbrahim Aksoy as referees We will miss some familiar names since they are working abroad: Fatih Terim, Hakan Şükür, Alpay Özalan, Tayfun Korkut, Arif Erdem, Oktay Derelioğlu, Elvir Boliç, Adnan Gusho, Dumitru Stingaciu, Hamid Marakchi, Davor Vugrinec, and Tugay Kerimoğlu A city called İzmir. Turkey's third biggest city doesn't have any team in the league this year. New Names We will see some famous names with us this year. Jardel of Galatasaray, Anderson, Baliç, Revivo of Fenerbahçe, Nouma, Karhan of Beşiktaş. Ten new technical directors for eighteen teams. Four of them are foreigners. Scala of Beşiktaş, Lucescu of Galatasaray, Berger of Bursaspor and Pecze of Rizespor. Same Name, Different Address Mustafa Denizli is now with Fenerbahçe. Last year's top scorer Serkan Aykut is now with Galatasaray. Sergen Yalçın is now with Trabzonspor. Fazlı Ulusal is with Beşiktaş. Hasan Özer is now with Gaziantepspor. Ertuğrul Sağlam is back with Samsunspor. ...and so many others.
