OCTOBER 1998 NEWSLETTER VOL. VIII #10
This month's meeting will be held as usual at 7:30 P.M. on October 28th at Phillipsburg Town Hall main level. Entertainment to be announced.
The theme of the Phillipsburg Halloween Parade on Sunday, November 1st will be "Locomotion Fever" to promote the New Jersey Transportation and Railroad Museum. (We found out about it last week from an announcement in the Easton Express.) We will have a float in the Parade combining talent with URHS and Friends. This is an all hands available call. See Pete at the meeting or call 908.213.1722.
Projects to be completed before winter sets in will be divided into groups. Manpower needed!!
A second trip to Northampton Street has yielded a Bumping Post, Battery Box and a nice LV Phone Box.
The retaining wall project can now proceed as Star Concrete (the low quote) has blocks for us, and the Town has reissued the purchase order.
We have agreed to sponsor an Explorer Scout Post to handle the model railroad project at our museum site. Brian Huston is Scout Master in Charge.
C&S 1503 is alive and well thanks to Glenn Terminelli. Rebuilding the magneto and replacing the battery did the trick. The 1503 and its trainset will be the centerpiece on our float in the Halloween Parade.
Work Parties will continue on Saturdays as needed with weather as a factor. Groups will be working on projects at other times. Call Pete Terp for details at 908.213.1722.
The following Volunteers have contributed 263 hours during October, Jeff Amey, Jim Anderson, Alan Bellis, Larry Dusablon, Rick Glosser, Ann Jennings, Bob Kirkpatrick, Derek Long, Jim Mack, Bob Marinelli, Ken Miller, Bill Pensyl, Glenn Terminelli, Pete Terp, Matt Winter, Steve Winter.
Treasurer's Report will be available at the members meeting.
