October 1997 NEWSLETTER VOL. VII #10

This month's meeting will be held at 7:30 P.M. on October 22nd, at the Phillipsburg Town Hall, in the basement. Entertainment will be presented by Rick Glosser.

October brought much progress. All of our property is removed from Viking. We have removed the last of the rail donation from Gilbert Power Plant. Ties for our first switch (full size) have been delivered. Track laying and moving of rolling stock are our #1 goal.

The town has cut down the tree which was in the way of our retaining wall project. The retaining wall project will be our #2 project this fall.

Open house on October 5th saw approximately 30 visitors with the C&S running for the last time this spring.

Many volunteers worked on the projects, including: Jim Anderson, Ed Beers, Alan Bellis, Rick Glosser, Ann Jennings, Bob Kirkpatrick, Jim Mack, Bill McKelvey, Ken Miller, Glenn Terminelli and Pete Terp. Special thanks to Alan's dad, Lynn Bellis, and member Dave Griffith for help on the rail donation from Gilbert, Thirty four lengths of this rail was trucked to Whippany, by Glenn Terminelli, for use by URHS to extend a siding there.

Appointments to our Board of Directors to fill vacant positions are as follows: Alan Bellis - Director, Ann Jennings - Secretary, your president has named Ken Miller Museum Site Coordinator, Glenn Terminelli remains Chief Mechanical Officer.

Upcoming work parties will be Saturday, October 25th, November 8th and 22nd at 9:00 A.M. at the museum site. Call Jim Anderson at 610.252.4026 to confirm. We need all the able bodies available!!

Note: As in the past, November and December meetings will be held one week earlier so they do not conflict with the holidays.
