MEETING

This month's meeting will be January 26th, at 7:30 p.m., in the Community Room of Phillipsburg Town Hall. We will have some entertainment but as of this writing I don't know who. Thanks to Alan Bellis for showing some of Tom Nemeth's slides at the December meeting. Those members who reserved a copy of LEHIGH VALLEY RAILROAD by Robert Archer, can pick up their books. Member cost is $35 each, I may have some additional copies left if anyone else is interested. The new Morning Sun books, EL and D&H, are not in yet.

MEMBER NEWS

DECEMBER MEETING: President Peter Terp reported that Lester Rockafellow resigned as treasurer effective November 20th 1993. His letter of resignation was read at the meeting. I, Pete Delikat, editor of this newsletter and your secretary, have agreed to take over the duties of treasurer until the next election. We had to change banks as a prerequisite to getting a load from Phillipsburg National Bank. We borrower $7400 to pay for the roof repair to the firehouse. Local roofer, John Todd is doing the work and at this writing is half done. The weather is holding up completing the job. This year we're going to have to hold some fund raisers. All members can help now by paying their 1994 dues, see Dave Griffith at the meeting or send it in! You can also help by attending our second annual banquet, see Steve Winter at the meeting, tickets are $15 each, which includes your choice of dinner and entertainment. President Terp also reported that Ted Merritt had filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. We are also temporarily returning the donation given us by the Jersey Central Chapter NRHS. Jim Anderson will now be in charge of the firehouse, he proposed a work detail to clean up after the roof is repaired. He would like to move some of the C&S cars to storage trailers to make some room to work. First order of business would be to rebuild the cupola off flanger #105.

MONTANA LOCOMOTIVE: The 105 ton Ingersoll-Rand locomotive that we tried to return to Phillipsburg has found a new home. We alerted other organizations to its availability, the Feather River Railway Museum at Portola, California, managed to save the locomotive. They mailed us a copy of their newsletter explaining the move, copies of which were at the December meeting.
