JULY MEETING RECAP

ROLLING STOCK: Fate of the CNJ caboose at Milford is still undecided. At the last Jersey Central Chapter meeting it was left to the membership to decide its fate, no decision was reached. In the mean time, their directors are negotiating with Liberty State Park on possibly donating it to them. The L&NE Tadmor shop goat is now ours, it was donated to us by the Jersey Central Chapter. Al Vernon and Glenn Terminelli are working on getting it running. Keith Muldowney reported the RDC car is still being worked on. Jim Anderson reports that some of our equipment needs to be tightened up before winter.

MERRITT PROPERTY: At the July meeting NO MOVEMENT was reported. Since then, if you've been reading the papers you know what's happening. The Merritt property may never be ours. That being the case, we have asked the town for 4.7 acres of former CNJ right-of-way from "PU" Tower east, on both sides of N.J. Transit property currently used by Conrail. We Have also asked the town to acquire the former CNJ tower. Such a site would definitely be more visible, is there room for expansion.....? Come to the meeting and tell us what you think!

MINATURE RR REPORT: Nothing new to report, project on hold pending museum site location. Some members working on cars, Norman Cole cleaned and painted the car he had, it now will be taken to Washington, N.J. to be lettered. We are trying to locate some flat bed trailers to store track panels on.

FIREHOUSE REPORT: We have asked the town for either a five of ten year lease. Five years and they will help defray the cost of a new roof, ten years and we will pay for the roof repair. Repairs will cost between eight and nine thousand dollars. Either way we're going to have to raise some money.... anyone have any GOOD IDEAS!
