MARCH 2000 NEWSLETTER VOL. X #3

Entertainment this month features Ed Beersi
on The Survivors.

BEST REGARDS to all PRRH members and their families. Spring is in the air and just around the comer. The robins have made their return and it's time for us to dust off the camera and head for trackside. Of course, you have to find a train and pay a lot more at the pump. Fill up your tanks and head to the meeting. Our monthly membership meeting will be held on Wednesday night March 22 at 7:30 PM at the Alpha United Presbyterian Church. Video entertainment will be provided by Ed Beers and titled The Survivors, a look at some of our local and urique rail operations.

I would like to thank Jim Mack for handling our table at EastRail. Also our gratitude to Ed Beers and Matt and Steve Winter for taking care of our representation at Mother Seton. I want to issue a special note of thanks to Ed Meyers for his efforts at manning and coordinating the snack bar.

Things are rolling along well for our enginehouse as the toun and the builder are negotiating for the commencement of the project. As we had previously mentioned, the grant was approved, the building will go up, cyclone fencing will be erected, and the coal pockets will get cleaned out. The town has issued a purchase order, a set of plans ordered, and a building permit will be given.

We are working on a trip to Baltimore, and details are being explored for a possible date later in the spring. We will be having our first PRRH picnic on Sunday September 10 at the Hugh Moore Canal Park in South Easton. This will be a member provided affair and more information will be available as we finalize our plans. We will soon make available for sale our first Historical Ornament depicting CNJ Pacific 834 pulling the Queen of the Valley passenger train across the Easton-Pburg bridge. We will also have a raffle ticket drawing later in the spring with some worthwhile prizes to be won.

Our annual banquet is also in the works for the end of April. The details will be announced when they are finalized. We are going to have an interesting year in many respects and we NEED YOUR SUPPORT to make them successful.

We selected Mr. Jack Quinn at the February meeting to be our delegate to the URHS. Finally, I wish to acknowledge the following members for their participation at the first March work party: Pete Terp, Jim Anderson, Dave Beck, and Jim Dyer. We have much work ahead and the work party sessions are the first and third Saturdays of the month.

Please pay your dues if you have not already done so. See you at the meeting! Bring a friend.
