I got an e-mail from another cosplayer one year asking me whether I wanted to be part of her skit. She had seen me dance as Yui and thought that I might be interested in doing something with her. I told her that I usually worked alone and that I had already started on a costume (Armitage). She said that I could show both costumes and that she would sew Deedlit for me as long as I learned the dance. I said, OK, it sounded fun. Which it did, particularly as I didn't have to do a lot of work.
The problem was that Jenny (the creator of this Deedlit) was also working on a Fushigi Yuugi skit that she put most of her time into. And I spent most of my time that year on Armitage. So, needless to say, the dance was not nearly as good as it should have been. (Although the Fushigi Yuugi skit was absolutely darling!) I believe that this costume was finished, at the last minute, in Jenny's hotel room, which is definitely not the best way to finish up a costume. And the dance, while pretty, was relatively unremarkable. But, oh well, I get to say that I was once Deedlit. Maybe some day I'll redo the costume and spend a bit more time on it. Unlikely, but definitely possible. Deedlit was my favorite character in Record of Lodoss War (which I only saw the OAV for) and I wouldn't mind being her again.
