WOLFPACK
A wolf pack is a family unit.It may be as basic as a new pair, or it may be an extended family. Wolves are not abandoned during their first year as are many other animals. Instead, they remain in close-knit families, enjoying the company of their parents and siblings for many generations. Some wolves never leave their original pack.
Status within a wolf pack is well defined. Age is the primary determinant. The alpha pair is at the top. They are generally the first to howl before a hunt, first to attack the prey, first to eat from a kill and first to head off threats or attacks to the pack. The alpha pair is usually stronger and larger than the other pack members. They are found running at the head of the line. Alpha females discipline the females and Alpha males intimidates the males.
The wolf on the left displays classic signs of submission, especially his ear set, low and back. The wolf on the right is showing his dominance and status.
