Proceeding might cause the urge to stand infront of fast moving objects!

Hello there. If you are not interested in goaltending then you had better go to another place on the net. Or my main page, links, whatever.

Of all the players that play hockey, I have the most respect for the goalies. Sure there is Gretzky, Jagr, Orr, and all the great ones but if you are willing to stand infront of a rubber object moving towards you at speeds over 80 mph, well then you are:

a) Nuts!

or

b) A goalie

I also play goalie. Well mostly road hockey and intermiral at MCI. And know what? I love it! There is some risk you have to take... like getting nailed in the nuts (has happened to me) but other than that it's great fun.

One of my favourite goalies is the one, the only... DOMINIK HASEK! "The Dominator" is perhaps the world's best goaltender, and he proved it this winter in Nagano, Japan where he shutout the Russian team in the finals for a 1-0 win.

He has the most un-orthadox style I have ever seen! He is totally nuts. I saw him go out to the blue line (you have to beat the shit out of most goalies to get them to play out of the crease) just so he can stop a possible breakaway!

I think he is the master of the "butterfly". He has really long legs and that helps him to cover a huge part of the net. But most importantly he is not afraid of taking a puck (if necessary) in the head. He is my motivation for being a goaltender.

Now since most of my friends are reading this, and they think that I'm just some one who can talk a lot but doesn't have the guts to move from the streets to the ice, you are wrong. I would love to. Problem? Got the money for the equipment anyone?

That's why I have stuck to road/street hockey for some time. Cheap equipment. Once I gather the money (and I shall) I shall come and try the real thing. Now for most new goaltenders it is hard to understand... what the f**k is the "butterfly".

That is why I have decided to dedicate a whole seperate page which would deal with stanses, styles, drills, and everything you need to know about goaltending and how to polish your skills, and to stay on top of your game. There is the Ross (snowboarded) style... drugs... but that is something to consider later on. =)

Go to my goaltending tips, part 1. Go to the main page and then click on Ed Belfour for the second section.
