Jaywalker's Sonic Info

About Me!About The Blue Guy It all started way back in 1991. Hayao Nakayma, the chairman of Sega, thought to himself "Hey, you know, Nintendo getting a lot more business than we are, and maybe it is because of that Mario character." Well, figuring he could oust a fat little plumber from brooklyn, he accepted drawings from all over. Submissions poured in, all sorts of animals and oddities were viewed. One drawing captured him, one of a blue hedgehog, later to be given the name "Sonic." Naoto Oshimo, the winner, would go down in history as the first person to draw Sonic. They created the first Sonic video games for the Sega Genesis. They called themselves the "Sonic Team", they have designed more Sonic games, and Nights for Sega Saturn. Afterwards, Archie Comic Books took up the character and made a story about him. A TV show by DIC was based on the comic, but failed because they could not incorporate the characters to be good on a cartoon series. In fact, Archie was losing story ideas, so after the 50th issue, they killed off Robotnik, Sonic's arch enemy, in order to have new and different struggles for Sonic to overcome. So today it comes down to the never ending battle against next week's evil fiend, but I still like to go back to the games and face the original evil himself, Dr. Robotnik.
