WHO AM I?

NAME: Veronique Denise Finke, but everybody just calls me Nikki.
SEX: Female
BIRTHDATE: January 18, 1980
WHAT I LOOK LIKE: 5 feet 2 inches tall, petite in size, brown hair and brown eyes.....which sounds like at least 20 people you know, but I do have pics of myself on this page!
PARENTS: Denise and Charles
SIBLINGS: Two Brothers, Glenn, who is 29, and Cody, who is 7.
COLLEGE: I'm a sophomore at the University of Maryland, College Park.
HERITAGE/ETHNICITY/YOU GET THE POINT: My mother is half French and half Vietnamese and my father is German-American.
WHAT I WANNA BE: I want to be in the FBI and do forensics.
CLASSES I'M TAKING: Socio-Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics, Archaeology, Greek and Roman Mythology, Introduction to French Culture, Career Planning and Decision Making, and my last College Park Scholars class in International Studies.
GPA: I am happy to report that I got a 4.0 in my Fall 1999 semester and that brought my overall GPA up to a 3.934.
MAJOR: I am undecided as of right now, but I am pretty sure that I am going to major in Anthropology and have a minor in French.
EXTRACURRICULARS (IF YOU WANT TO CALL THEM THAT): I am a sister of the Iota Omega chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha, a sorority at Maryland, where I pledged in the Spring of 1999 as a member of the Tau pledge class; I am a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, an honors fraternity; I am a member of that National Society of Collegiate Scholars; I am Treasurer of the Anthropology Students' Association.

The Meaning of Love

Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality. No one can become fully aware of the very essence of another human being unless he loves him. By his love he is enabled to see the essential traits and features in the beloved person; and even more, he sees that which is potential in him, which is not yet actualized but yet ought to be actualized. Furthermore, by his love, the loving person enables the beloved person to actualize these potentialities. By making him aware of the what he can be and of what he should become, he makes these potentialities come true.

In Viet Nam

Thirty years ago I left, never to be the same.
Thirty years ago I learned a country's new name.
Thirty years ago I put my uniform on.
Thirty years ago,
I went to Viet Nam.

We were a unit, we were a team, we were friends.
We were soldiers, we were The Enemy, we were the means to an end.
We were applauded, we were scorned, we were gone.
But mostly we were nameless faces,
We were in Viet Nam.

And Mr Nixon cried : "Escalate !!" and, my God, how we cried.
And the hippies cried : "We want Peace !!" and, my God, how we tried.

The jungle was alive, and I descended into Hell.
The jungle was an enemy, and I hated it well.
