OLD NEWS

May 11, 2002. One week 'til the Bunny Benefit III! Yay!

April 24, 2002. New poll! Go nuts! Other random updates as well, fun fun.

April 23, 2002. The show last Friday at Bryn Mawr College was spectacularlicious. Firstly, congrats to the legendary Gerry Tart for having all of his dreams come true. Secondly, thank you to Updaug for the show, the guitar pedal, for rockin' and for everything else (sorry about the drums dying, we've taken away their desert for two weeks), to all the people who went to the show, to all the people who danced at the show, and to BUNNY RABBITS!!! We'll stop thanking bunny rabbits after every show very soon. Like when Stalin resurects himself. Ha!

PS: Show pictures are located here

April 16, 2002. Two new tart shows. Yay! First one is THIS FRIDAY, April 19 at Bryn Mawr College with Updaug. The other one is the rescheduled and stupid-drunk-kid-proof Bunny Benefit III set for Saturday, May 18 at Lions Lake Park in Voorhees with many quality bands rockin' out for bunnies. Come on out and see us! Don't be no strangers! Come on!

April 12, 2002. Adam and Mike have been coughing, coughing, and for a change of pace, coughing all week. Tonight, they will celebrate by seeing Chromelodeon.

Oh yea, in stuff that has to do with the Cherry Tarts, the webpage has been tinkered with...

March 30, 2002. Working on some new songs. Also, few possible shows coming up. Nevertheless, Zach is still a dirt.

Also, bit of webpage tweaking going on, starting with the links section...

March 15, 2002. New pictures are up for the last two Full Circle Records shows and for our Bryn Mawr College show. In other news, Zach is a dirt.

March 11, 2002. The Bunny Benefit III is canceled =(. Sorry kids! This is due to the hall getting closed down due to a certain incident completely non-related to us that we'll refer to simple as "a bunch of complete morons getting smashed at a show at the hall and then wandering the streets drunk because they are too stupid to realize that they are accross the street from the police station, thus causing them to be busted for underage drinking and getting the Vets Hall closed for all future shows".

February 28, 2002. Whoops, we forgot to update! The show at Full Circle Records all those weeks ago was a blast. The Filthy Poor rocked out. A big Cherry Tart thanks to Ryan Batche for filling in on bass at the last minute! Both bands will be rocking out again at Full Circle at the beginning of June!

In sad news, Dan Burns and Guy Pizzi are no longer with the band =(. Thanks for everything guys, and keep it rockin' with your other bands.

In related news, we are very proud to introduce the newest Cherry Tart, new bassist and long time dirt Zach Crites. He doesn't have a whitty nickname yet, but we're working on it...

February 3, 2002. The R.A.I.N.N. benefit tonight at Bryn Mawr College went well. It was a great show for a great cause. Many thanks to all the bands that were better than us (aka, all the bands): The Meat Joy, Meridien, Myles of Destruction, and Defiant Trespass. Thank you to all the enthusiastic folks in the crowd who seemed to not hate us, maybe even like us. Special thanks to Pat & Lisa for making the trip to see us, to whoever was yelling at the end of our set, and to Bryn Mawr College for letting us play in a gigantic gothic looking room that made us think we were playing in Europe, expecially with Adam's ridiculous shirt and suspenders combination. Read the show review here

One week 'til Full Circle Records with the Filthy Poor! It's free and only in Blackwood, you can't beat that! This means you Russ!

January 18, 2002. SGR, Dirty Larry, and The Banana Factor are on the Bunny Benefit now! There's a Bunny Benefit Page now too.

Thibault gets back tonight, so perhaps the Tarts will practice soon to work on some of our new songs, such as The Viking March (previewed at Full Circle if you were there!), My Goldfish Died, and a yet unnamed one (actually, it has a name, just one so stupid that it's not getting shared =) ). Hooray for bunnies!

January 13, 2002. We've just put up two more shows on the shows page. The first in a benefit for the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, an organization founded by Tori Amos which connects those in need w/ local crisis centers at no cost. It's on February 2 at Bryn Mawr College. The second show is another benefit set for March 23, the now familiar Bunny Benefit for Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue. Two great shows for two great causes, come on out and have some fun!

January 6, 2002. Happy New Year! Cherry Tarts rocked out at Eugenes in Vineland, NJ last Saturday with The Filthy Poor (Yay Batche!), The Lobotomies, The Unwilling, the Deadbeats (they are amazing), and The Aceholes who weren't really the Aceholes and played hardcore and threw out twinkies. Many thanks to Matt & Eric for the show! Many thanks to Batche for making an obscene phone call to Pat Whalen!

Tonight, we played another great show with the Break of Day, No Regrets, The Banana Factor, Son of Alf, One Punch Luke, Adam's Not Funny, Kicked in the Head, and Day By Day. Thank each and every one of you, even Kevin Day who is worthless and a Red Wings fan. Also, a huge Cherry Tarts thank you to Zach "Huh Huh" Crites for filling in on the bass.

Oh yes, Cherry Tarts New Years resolution, we PROMISE to update the news and stuff more often. Really. We swear. We even put down a payment by uploading about sixty new pictures, including Guy "Guy" Pizzi, Stoney the Wonder Dog, Lou the Bleeding From the Mouth Pirate, and, of course, Luke of the Banana Factor and Josh of Dirty Larry. Gasp!

November 30, 2001. Show last Saturday went great. Our horn section was all captured by evil Swedish socialists, but luckily the Swingin' Cool Cats got the job done while setting the record for the youngest performers ever at Full Circle Records. Rock! Thank you to everyone who came out, hopefully we'll have some more shows soon...

November 20, 2001. Show for Friday the 23rd in cancelled. Oh well. Show for Saturday the 24th at Full Circle is a go! Yaaaaay! Pete will be there! Yaaaaaaay! You will be there???

November 9, 2001. MARCHING BAND IS OVER! PRAISE LENIN! Now the Cherry Tarts will be able to get cracking on a plethera of activities, defined as practice and play shows. And speaking of shows, we've got a new one on Nov. 23rd w/ No Regrets in Collingswood that should be free/cheap! Woohoo! We'll have directions & stuff up soon...

October 19, 2001. Well, us Cherry Tarts are basically sitting about, twiddling our thumbs, and waiting for marching band season to finally come to an end so that we can have our horns & bassist back. Next scheduled show is November 24 at Full Circle Records with the squirelly No Regrets. Yay! We'll let ya know if anything else comes up...

October 8, 2001. Yay! Show at Dan's backyard yesterday went muy good-o, at least playing-wise. Sorry we weren't a bit more energetic, but if you hadn't noticed it was REALLY cold out there. Thanks to Suckerpunch, The Banana Factor, The 1.9. Crew, & Drive-Thru Pharmacy for playing with us, to the bands that lent us stuff, to everyone who watched us, to Stoney the dog, and to BUNNY RABBITS!!!

October 1, 2001. Wow, the show on Saturday was AMAZING! The Warehouse is possibly the greatest place outside of Tartland. No wait, it IS the greatest place outside of Tartland! After being overrun with a five peice horn section last show, the Cherry Tarts caught the other extreme this time around and had NO horns! In addition, trained squirrels were sent to capture Dan and hold him for ransom, requiring the Cherry Tarts to enlist the aid of the amazing Lou "Pirate" Didomenico who, of course, rocked. Also appearing for his first show was the amazing Guy Pizzi on guitar, who showed great character and determination by, you guessed it, rocking! The other bands that night were the fruitcentric Banana Factor, the videogamecentric Son of Alf, and the cheezwizcentric Berserk Postal Clerks, all of whom rocked harder than we did, and forutunately didn't slay us OR take our lunch money! Go Allan also played a song for the assembled masses, and Raspberry Jamboree stole the show!

A big Cherry Tart thank you to Luke for askin' us to play, to Ete & everyone at the Warehouse for being amazing, to Lou for playing bass and spiting blood, to Randi for yelling at Guy throughout the set and making brownies (yes, brownies!), to the Banana Factor/Son of Alf/Berserk Postal Clerks/Go Allan/Rasberry Jamboree for playing with us (and TBF again for sharing equipment), to anyone who liked us, to anyone that was scared of us, to Bill for being the first person in recent memory to say he DIDN'T like us, and to BUNNY RABBITS!!!!

PS: For a show review, click here

PPS: The page, expecially the news section, is getting cleaned up a bit. So if you look at the dates on the news updates, it's gonna look like we didn't update for weeks and weeks at a time. We did. Really. We update every other day pretty much. No, really.

September 18, 2001. The show at Joe Kogut's house on Saturday went great! Making their Cherry Tart debutes were a trio of new horn players: melaphonist Mike "#3" Inzinna, and trombones Shannon Corkery and Kristin Bennett. They all, being Cherry Tarts, rocked with Block & Gison becoming a *gasp* horn section. Thanks to Joe Kogut for volunteering his backyard, to DTP, CYOA, & Orpheus for playing & spotting us equipment, to Tart-At-Heart Sean Akanbi for suprising us at the show, to everyone who came out to see us (aka Ken), and to BUNNY RABBITS, expecially ones in pink suit coats and sun glasses.

September 12, 2001. What a great time to be alive, eh? =( If you haven't already, please try to give blood within the next two or three days, it is desperately needed. This is especially important for those of you in Jersey, because we are between NYC & DC. The number is 1.800.GIVE.LIFE. They may be a bit overrun at the moment, but there is a desperate blood shortage that won't be filled just because they are overloaded at the moment, so please help keep them overrun with donations. You can find your local chapter here

August 29, 2001. Thanks to all the bands n fans who came out to the Bunny Benefit II on Saturday. Nearly $300 was raised for the Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue, which was put to good use buying a few hundred pounds of rabbit food (cheapest in 50 lb bags) and paying off a bit of the accumultated debt at the vets office. The show was a monsterous one, as never have so many South Jersey ska bands come together for one spectacular show. Much thanks to No Regrets, DiSSiDenT, Short Arms, Dirty Larry, the Banana Factor, Son of Alf, the Berserk Postal Clerks, and Drive-Thru Pharmacy for playing with us Cherry Tarts for all the cute little bunnies!

And finally, look out for some new faces in the Cherry Tarts as we *gasp* attempt to play shows during the school year. Peter has again left us to corrupt the halls of Carnagie-Mellan University, where he majors in living a few blocks from Mr. Rogers (whose last new episode aired on Monday). Also, leaving us for areas of higher learning is the ever lovable Jamie the bassist and bread-finder, who departs for college in New England and will hopefully remember to write her old comrades once in a while.

February 12,2001. A sad day has come down upon us all in Tartland and the surrounding capitalist regimes. No, we did not break up, it is much worse than that. Mister Rogers has retired. Yes, his last episode was filmed in December. We shall all remember Mister Rogers quite fondly for teaching us such wholesome communist values as sharing, the color red, public transportation, and treating everyone (even children) as equals. While his show may live on in sydication, we shall all miss him dearly.

November 29, 2000. Oh no. Poor Communist Cherry Tarts are hurt. Every time some one says "I don't believe in Communism", a Cherry Tart dies somewhere. So I want all you boys and girls out there in the real world to help! Say to yourself "I believe in Communism!". THat's it! Louder! Say it louder! "I believe in Communism!" "I believe in Communism!". Good! Now clap your hands! Clap them loudly! Yes! Clap! Clap! CLAP! CLAAAAAAAPPPPPP.......
