THE CHANGING FACES OF THE MOON:
 
 
What's it all about?

First Read about the phases of the moon: (click)

Now:

1. Hold the styrofoam ball away from you, slightly above your head, with the X facing you.

* the styrofoam ball = the moon

* you = the earth

* the light = the sun
 
 

2. Stay in one spot while rotating once. Notice how the light falls on it.
 
  the light it reflects.
 
 

3. Make another full turn around.

This time rotate only 1/8 turn.

Look at the ball after each 1/8 turn.
 
 

4. Rotate again, demonstrating a full moon, gibbous moon,

quarter moon, crescent moon, and new moon.

6. Answer the following questions:
