High Jump
The high jump. This is an event of Ups. Who can get up the highest and over
the bar. The key to a good high jump lies in the "j-curve". The j-curve is
the name given to the approach one takes towards the bar. Starting off you
need to run straight at the bar perpendicular to the plane, approximately
11-12 feet off the standard. Then one needs to run a tight curve towards
the bar. A good block leg will send you flying through the air towards the
bar. Now comes the time when you need to get your hips up and your back flat.
lastly don't forget to whip your legs over. Although my best is only 5'8",
I really haven't practiced this event too much. Besides I usually wind up
sitting over the bar.
