Ernest Shepard (1879-1976)

Ernest Shepard was an English Artist, best known for his magical illustrations for childrens books. He was born in London in 1879. Shepard was also an illustrator for the comical magazine punch.

All of the illustrations in Whinnie-The-Pooh were designed by Shepard. Through his art, he gave visual life to A.A.Milnes charaters. Shepard also illustrated for Milnes poems.

Shepard illustrated for a number of other Authors including himself. Shepard illustrated in Kenneth Grahame's, The Wind in The Willows and The Reluctant Dragon. Ernest Shepard's auto-biography, released in 1957 is titled, Drawn from Memory.
