My Companion the Clock

by: Devlin 5-14-96

Sitting here outside alone makes me more depressed every minute that passes by,
every hour that doesn't fly by.
tick, tock
As I sit here I see the birds in the nest caring for their young,
tick, tock
I see the elderly couple off for a day at the park.
tick, tock
As I sit here alone I see couples walking by hand in hand and arm in arm,
tick, tock
I see the families with their children packing for a fun filled day at the beach in the sun.
tick, tock
But me.....I sit here alone with no hand to hold, no family to do things with.
No childeren to watch grow and enjoy the innocents of youth.
No one to love or cuddle with on a cold winters night, only my companion, the old clock on the wall ticking away each second of another lonely day.
tick.....................
