STAMFORD, Conn. -- Only a few years ago live on a World Wrestling Federation pay-per-view, Terry Funk told his then partner, Justin Hawk Bradshaw, that he was leaving the WWF to fight around both the country and world before his retirement. At that time, Funk explained that he would return to the Federation to retire and would make up for leaving Bradshaw at the height of their tag team. It appears, though, that the WWF decided to keep him under contract but simply not pay him while he was not wrestling in their ring. Now that Terry Funk has signed and is appearing on World Championship Wrestling television, Jim Ross dropped the bombshell on his Ross Report that, "Out of respect for Terry Funk, who is still under contract to the WWF, no litigation is expected at this time regarding Terry's recent TV appearance on another network." Ross' words of "at this time" do prove that anything can happen in the business. Although there is no word from the origionator of Funk-U, Top Rope Newsletter will bring you any news we hear as soon as it comes our way. It is not known at this time what transpired in that meeting. WCW management, Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara mainly, have been upset with Flair as of late for pulling out of the WCW commissioner angle which they prepared for him. When WCW first ran the idea past Flair, he was lukewarm and wanted to know how the angle would play out. The angle was to have Flair come back as commissioner and then lose that post to Kevin Nash at Souled Out. Flair did not like losing to Nash, but management still thought it was a go. Flair finally nixed the idea a few days before it was to be played out on TV, thus getting the fast replacement in Terry Funk. It is no secret that Flair has been unhappy with WCW and something needed to be done to get him and WCW on the same page once again. Maybe this meeting was just the thing.

PHILADELPHIA, PA. (TRP) -- Axl Rotten, Chris Candido, and Tammy Lynn Sytch were, today, the next three names off of the staff list of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
Candido, who left the World Wrestling Federation late into 1996, and Sytch, who left late into 1997, were just recently released from their 3-year job at ECW. In the past few months, rumors -- that have both been confirmed and denied -- have run rampant about the pair and their drug and alcohol problems.
As of press time, there is no specific reason why this pair and Axl Rotten as well have left ECW, however one can be sure that there are some very solid reasons behind it.
-[LAWLER TO START UP NEW FEDERATION?]-
MEMPHIS, TN. (TRP) -- Jerry "The King" Lawler has recently been rumored to start up a new Wrestling federation in the Memphis Tennessee area. Lawler apparently met with Brent Prentice last week in Memphis in hopes of starting the new Independant federation.
Contrary to the rumor, however, is that Memphis Power Pro Wrestling does have a good working relationship with the WWF, Lawler's current employer, not strained like it was once thought. Some believe that this factor could stop Lawler from possibly starting up an indy federation.
Lawler has also recently been rumored to have been talking to some local television stations about a deal where, if Lawler did open a federation, they would carry it on their station. The station that Lawler spoke with is not the one that currently carries Memphis Power Pro Wrestling which Lawler used to have his USWA on.
