My first POKeMON TCG games... ^_^

Well, for my first two games, I played using the Blackout deck, against my brother's deck, which was a slightly modified version of the first POKeMON starter (The basic one, with no name of theme), and is Fire/Fighting. We each won one game, and I was rather happy with my self for winning my second POKeMON game ever.

Oh, by the way, I've had plenty of M:TG expereince, so I'm fairly good at anylyzing cards...

Well, here's some of the stuff I learned...

  • Onix has got to be the most Gawd-aweful POKeMON on the planet. Although he's got 90HP, his attack on does 10HP, and his defense move isn't that great, since you can use both moves in one turn. The only reason I would fathom keeping this in a deck is to stall your opponent for a while
  • Staryu isn't good, as Machop is better, as he has more health. I suppose Starmie might be good, but I don't have a spoiler or anything, so I'll just talk from what I know.
  • Sandshrew was a pleasant surprise. His Sand-Attack was pretty good, and I ended up doing 60HP to a helpless Charmeleon, due to my apparent luck with the Chansey Coin.
  • Machop/Machoke was okay, but my brother had Machamp, which seemed to due a bnuch of damage when my brother got him out.
  • Energy Removal and Super Energy Removal came in VERY handy when my brother got out the aformentioned Machamp.
  • Hitmonchan was very good, especially since he's a basic POKeMON. He deserves that hologram of his... ^_^
  • Squirtle/Wartortle was good enough. They worked out well against my brother, since he uses a bunch of Fire cards...
  • Is it just me, or is Professor Oak like, the best card in the game? There was a watered-down version of this card in the first sets of M:TG, and it was banned after the first couple of tournaments...
  • I liked Farfetch'd. Due to my apparent spirit-bond with the Chansey Coin, this card was GREAT! I got thirty damage to my brother's POKeMON on the first turn, and I just kept Pot Smash-ing away after that. Best of all, I can put him in any deck I make!
  • The only other thing of note that my brother did was the use of Charmander/Charmeleon. If it wasn't for my opertune use of two Warotortles, I would've lost the second game to those firey pests...

Well, That's what I've got to say. If you've got something to say about POKeMON TCG, whether it's a help article for new players like me, plain ol' card strategies, or anything else about POKeMON, please email me at gomf@angelfire.com!

Ohh.... here's what I'll do next.... M:TG vs POKeMON TCG!
