George Champion...

was a man whose name was perfectly apt. He was a champion in all respects -- a man of unshakable integrity, a patriot, and a successful business executive who rose to the top of the corporate world as champion of one of the largest banks in the world.

He lived a long and full life, and his work had an undeniable impact on the life of the nation and, indeed, the world.

He was truly one of God's noblemen, and we shall miss him greatly.

-- Former Treasury Secretary William Simon

Champion discusses the world's most successful bank (at the time, Chase Manhattan, which Champion chaired) with John F. Kennedy at a 1962 awards banquet in New York.
