Episode 37: As the Band Played On

     It was the night of the first big concert of the semester and four of the university's resident angel destroyers and youma butt kickers were preparing for what was to be a performance they wouldn't soon forget.
     In one of the rooms on the first floor a pair of the Star Warriors, namely Warriors Saturn and Callisto, aka Alex West and Jason Cote, were getting dressed up for the concert. With Jason being first seat, first alto sax and Alex first seat, second alto they knew they had to make a splash.
     "I'll be glad when tonight is over," Alex sighed, fixing his hair.
     "Why's that?" Jason asked, shrugging into his jacket.
     "I'm tired and too much work has piled up over the past couple weeks," Alex grunted as he tied his necktie, "plus I think I'm coming down with something."
     "How do I look?" Jason asked. Alex turned his head and did a double take. Jason was dressed in a tuxedo with black tie and vest, his brown hair slicked back with gel. Alex started to drool when he saw this. "Easy there boy. Don't make me hit you with a freeze arrow."
     "I'm jealous," Alex snorted, turning to the mirror to check the part in his somewhat shaggy brown hair, the purple dress shirt, the Star Trek® tie, the black sport coat, and the green dress pants.
     "Well, I'm in the second half of the show so I have to wear this," Jason said, putting his hand on Alex's shoulder. When Alex tensed up he said, "What's wrong now?"
     "I'm getting some bad vibes," Alex said, "I hope that nothing attacks until after the concert or even next week."
     Just then there was a knock at the door. Alex and Jason both said, "Come in." simultaneously. The door opened and in stepped a vision in royal violet silk, her auburn hair brushed back with ribbons in a couple places.
     "Heyas," Asuka said, grinning, "What do you think?" she added, dancing into the room and into Alex's arms.
     "Wow, Asuka, you look wonderful," Alex said.
     "I'll say," Jason said, "Where did you get the dress?"
     "Something I borrowed from Alison and Alyssa. Rei Ayanami also borrowed a dress... light blue, I think."
     "She's going to be front row, right?" Jason asked.
     "Yup. Misato, Maya, Ritsuko, Touji, and Rei will all be in the front row."
     There was another knock at the door. Asuka opened it and in stepped Shinji, dressed in a tuxedo similar to Jason's, except with a white jacket with a red rose in the lapel.
     "You guys ready to go?" Shinji asked.
     "Yup," Jason and Asuka said.
     "One second," Alex said, grabbing his transformation pen and some spell notes. Once he slipped these items into his pocket he said, "Now I'm ready."
     "Are you sure you're going to need those?" Asuka asked.
     "Just in case something attacks I'll be ready," Alex said as they left.

     "I'm so nervous," Rei Ayanami whispered to her neighbor, who happened to be Touji Suzuhara.
     "Why should you be nervous?" Touji whispered back, "You're not the one performing."
     "I know, but this is Shinji's and Asuka's first concert with this band."
     "Don't worry about them," Adderson Martin said, learning over the seats in front of him, "They play excellent music... I heard them practicing."
     "Ooooooh, here they come!" Misato said, a tinge of nervousness mixed with the excitement in her voice.
     "You're correct as usual," Ritsuko said, applauding as the performers stepped onto the stage. She gave a very loud cat call, causing Rei, Touji, Maya, and Misato to give her a funny look. "What? Can't I show my excitement? Wohoo!!!"

     Once Alex and Jason were seated, Alex's communicator pinged. A sweat drop formed on his head as he took the small object from his pocket. He pushed the button for 'Moon' and Luna's face appeared on the screen.
     "What is it now Luna?" Alex asked.
     "Be on the look out for one of those angel / youma cross breeds," Luna said, "Central command picked up the life signs of one in your area not too long ago."
     "Luna, Jason and I are about to perform in a concert. Can't this wait?"
     "Just look out. Luna out."
     Once the transmission ended Jason leaned over and asked, "What's up?"
     "Luna said to look out for an angel / youma mix," Alex replied. The pair sighed and wondered why they couldn't live a normal life for one night.
     At this point the conductor, Mr. Nick Orovich, stepped onto the stage. Everyone stood up and the audience applauded. Jason, Alex, Shinji, and Asuka waved to their friends in the front rows during the applause. Once the applause died down Mr. Orovich seated the band. They proceeded to tune without incidence. They then began the first piece they were playing that night.

(music: 'Chorale and Shaker Dance' by John P. Zdechlik)      The piece started out slowly, with the tones of every instrument in the band mixing in such a way to create wonderful chords. The audience was enveloped in clear and wonderful tones, sucking the people into the reality created by the music. As the tempo shifted from fast to slow, then to fast again, Alex kept one eye on his music and the other looking out into the audience. When the band reached the first solo for the first alto saxes the angel / youma burst in through the door, shocking everybody back to reality. This particular creature was female, with thick body armor in a feminine style, ankle length blue hair, and several HUGE swords, all charged with energy. Alex gasped when he saw the creature and didn't know what to do, for if he utilized a magic spell then everyone would be alerted to his position; if he transformed everyone around him would know he was Warrior Saturn; if he didn't do anything then the people in the audience would be in danger, not to mention the members of the band. He decided to wait a minute and see what would happen.
     When the band reached a confusing part of the piece the audience finally caught on to the presence of the youma and made a hasty, yet chaotic, retreat out of the auditorium. With fewer people around, Andrew and Rei stood up and powered up their AT Fields, protecting the band and creating a bubble around the main section of the theater to keep damage to a minimum. When the band started a slower part of the piece, Jason and Alex set their saxes down and shuffled off the stage to join their friends.
     "Aren't you glad I decided to pack my transformation pen," Alex said as he took his from his pocket.
     "And I'm glad you thought of it, since I also brought mine," Jason replied, taking his pen from his pocket, "Callisto Nova Power!"
     "Saturn Nova POWER!!"
     As the band played a slower part of the piece, Jason and Alex transformed into Warriors Callisto and Saturn. Once they transformed they joined their friends, who were already battling with the youma.
     "What's the status?" Alex asked Derek as he and Jason joined the fight.
     "We're holding our own against this creature, but we're slowly losing strength," Derek said, deflecting an energy blade with the end of his staff.
     "Well, the calvary has arrived," Jason said, summoning a large crystal, "Star Missile!"
     He hurled the crystal at the youma, only to have it be batted away with one of its swords. By now the band had reached a rather slow part of the piece, with some rather majestic phrasing and different flats and sharps, giving Adderson and Alex an idea.
     "Gravity Crush!"
     "CRUSH!"
     Adderson's attack increased the gravity around the youma, beginning to crush it. Alex's alchemy spell created a giant fist which fell from the sky and squashed the youma. Unfortunately the armor plating was too thick for the attacks to work decently. By now the band hit another fast part of the piece and the youma got an idea. It charged energy into its body, increasing its attack abilities by 300%. The youma charged at the Senshi and Warriors, slashing wildly. The Senshi and Warriors ran from the youma, dodging all of the attacks thrown at them. Unfortunately they ended up being pinned in a corner. Andrew and Rei set their AT Fields to be multi - level so that not much damage would be incurred.
     "We need to get out of this mess somehow," Jason said.
     "I don't know how we're gonna do that," Dan said, "I think we're all open to suggestions."
     "I have one," Alex said, activating his visor, "Light which burns beyond crimson flame, let your power gather in my hand. LIGHTING!"
     An orb of blinding light formed in his hand, creating a flash which distracted the youma long enough for everyone to vault over and get a safe distance away. By this time the piece reached a slow, yet fast part with more majestic phrasing and flowing notes. By now the Senshi and Warriors were ready to stand and fight.
     "Let's hurry up and destroy this damned youma and get back to our concert," Jason and Alex said simultaneously.
     "I'm all for it," Asuka said, joining the Warriors and Senshi. She reached behind her back and unholstered a hand held chain gun. She pointed at the youma, took aim, and pulled the trigger, unloading several hundred rounds of ammo in several brief seconds. The bullets were absorbed by the creature's armor and turned into some rather stylish spikes in the gauntlets, leg guards, and shoulder guards. Asuka saw this and fell over in convulsions.
     "Oh, grow up!" Dan said, forming a sphere of flames between his palms. He clenched the sphere between his hands, forming a long sword of fire energy. He leapt into the air and slashed downward, releasing a plume of flames which engulfed the youma.
     "Let's ice this sucker," Richard said, producing his bow and notching a silver arrow. The arrow head glowed blue as he drew the string taut. He took aim and released the arrow. The arrow sailed sure and true, striking the youma in the shoulder and dispersing the accumulated ice energy, dropping the temperature around the youma to sub arctic levels.
     "Gravity Cutter!"
     Adderson charged energy into the blade of his sword until it glowed a brilliant gold - green. He held the sword above his head before slashing downward, releasing the energy in the form of a ghostly saw blade, which sailed through the air and struck the youma in the chest, slashing a large gash in the armor.
     "Oh, for crying out loud," Alex said, producing his glaive. He charged dark energy into the blade before leaping into the air. He shouted, "Giga FLARE!" before slashing downward, releasing the energy as a dark thunderbolt, which struck the ground in front of the youma and exploded into an expanding wave of solar level heat and energy, dealing massive damage to the youma and weakening it to the point of near defeat.
     By this point the band hit an incredibly fast part short of the end of the piece and the youma had one final attack. It gathered all the energy around it into its body until a ghostly aura formed about it. It then channeled the energy into the blades of its swords until they glowed with ghostly auras. The youma crossed the blades before its body and released the energy as a Giga Flare of its own.
     "We're so screwed!" Jordan and Mike exclaimed.
     "No.... we're... not!" Andrew and Rei said, extending their AT Fields as far as they would go. The dark Giga Flare struck the AT Field and was canceled out instantly. Alex held his hands like he was holding a bow and arrow. He shouted, "Flare... ARROW!!" and an arrow of flames formed in his hand, an energy bow sparking in and out around it. He released the arrow, which sailed through the air and struck the youma in the chest before exploding, vanquishing it in a massive explosion. To make sure it was defeated Alex shouted, "Dill BRAND!" while snapping his fingers. The ground where the youma had been standing exploded upwards in a plume of flames, destroying anything which remained.
     By now the band was wrapping the piece up with a slower part before a HUGE crescendo, filling the auditorium with sound. The Warriors and Senshi took a breather and were about to power down when a second angle / youma mix breeds burst in, looking for a fight. The band started up the second piece at this time. (music: Amazing Grace by Frank Ticheli)      As the band started up, the second string fell back to rest, regroup, and collect their thoughts. They also took time to study the new angel, which was male, with orange skin, flame red hair which was pulled up and back with a black hair band. This youma possessed wings like an angel or a hawk, with black body armor, black gauntlets, black shorts, and black boots and shin guards with gold accents. From its hips dangled a pair of long swords in black leather scabbards. The youma began to flap its wings at a rapid rate, creating gale force gusts of wind.
     As a solo saxophone played the 'Amazing Grace' theme, Derek, Rei, and Andrew reinforced their shield to block the gusts and give the others a chance to think up a plan of attack. As the solo sax was joined by another to finish the theme, Alex, Jason, Adderson, Dan, Tod, and Alison channeled energy into their bodies, increasing their attack power. While the band played on, with the saxes playing a descending and ascending scale, Alex held his palms before his body and chanted a spell.
     "Source of all power, light which burns beyond crimson, let thy power gather in my hand. Fire... BALL!!"
     When the band reached a high note, Alex screamed out the last part of the spell, hurling the fireball at the youma, striking it in the chest and throwing it back. Alex hurled another three fireballs while the band played a quiet part of the piece, knocking the youma back even further. Unfortunately the youma increased its own attack power, breaking through the shield and hurling the Warriors and Senshi over a few rows of seats. Confusion set in as the youma drew its swords and utilized a Wheel Blade attack, gashing up people's armor and fuku's. The Warriors and Senshi leapt to their feet and retaliated with some attacks of their own.
     "Death Ribbon Revolution!"
     "Cold Wildfire!"
     "Gravity Wave!"
     "Dead Scream."
     "Phobos Shockwave Strike!"
     "Deimos Tornado Strike!"
     "Orion's Spear!"
     As the Senshi and Warriors attacked, the youma used its wings like shields, absorbing some of energy from the attacks while deflecting other attacks. This puzzled the heroes until the youma spread its wings and released the accumulated energy as a rainbow colored beam. As the saxophones, French horns, and other instruments struck up the 'Amazing Grace' theme, the Sailor Senshi utilized Sailor Planet Power to erect a shield to reflect the beam back at the youma, shearing one of its wings off. Alex stepped to the front line and began to incant a spell.
     "Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows. Buried in the stream of time, that's where your power grows. I pledge myself to conquer, all the foes who stand, before the mighty gift bestowed to my unworthy hands. Dragon... SLAVE!!"
     Alex cast the spell, a massive beam of dark energy striking the youma and wiping it from the face of the planet. By now the end of the piece was coming and the Warriors and Senshi dropped back to rest as a solo saxophone played the last repetition of the 'Amazing Grace' theme. When the piece ended the Sailor Soldiers and Warriors dropped to crouches and sighed in relief, since another youma didn't show up when the piece ended.
     "Well, I guess that's it," Asuka said, climbing back onto the stage.
     "And now for the next piece," Jason said, preparing to power down. (music: Spring Divertimento movement 1 - Fanfare by Timothy Mahr.)      As the fanfare began, the third angel burst in through the doors, this one a male with incredibly thick silver armor, long flaming red hair which was spiked on top and hung down to its waist in the back. On its back rested a scabbard of gold with a shadowy blade inside. The angel stood in the doorway and drew its blade, marveling at the music which played when it entered.
     "I never thought I was royalty," it said, staring at the Warriors and Senshi before the stage.
     "Great, a third angel," Alyssa said.
     "And this one looks incredibly strong," Alison added, making a mental note of the thickness of the armor the angel wore.
     "Shall we kick its butt girls?!" Ariel asked, getting a resounding, "YES!" from the rest of the Sailor Soldiers.
     "Since the guys beat the first two it's the least we could do," Lizz said, charging energy into the talismans on her wrists and on her choker. By now the band reached the second movement of the piece. (music: Spring Divertimento movement 2 - Hymn.)      "They're playing our song," Mina said, summoning her love chain, "Venus Melt My Heart STRIKE!"
     The three chains snaked towards the angel, only to be slashed to pieces by its sword. Mina stumbled back before summoning another attack.
     "Venus Crescent Beam SMASH!!"
     The Crescent beam struck the angel in the chest, only to be absorbed and then redirected by the armor. Mina turned to the rest and shrugged. "Guess it's your turn now."
     "Sounds like a blast," Lizz said, releasing the energy which was in the talismans. "Hexagon MYST!!"
     Twin triangles of water energy formed and spiraled over the angel, eventually coming together and forming a 6 pointed star, which spiraled over the angel before vanishing. The angel shook the water from its hair before belching an ice beam at Lizz. Lizz put her right arm up in defense, only to have it frozen in a block of ice.
     "It's COLD!!" Lizz shouted, waving her arm about.
     "I'll heat it up," Rei said, "Mars Celestial Fire SURROUND!"
     The flame rings sailed through the air and struck the angel in the chest, only to have them ricochet off of the armor. Rei turned to the other girls and said, "I don't think I can do this on my own."
     "We'll lend a hand," Roxy said, indicating herself and the others, "Let's get 'em girls!"
     "Gladly," Bethany said, charging energy into her body until it formed a ghostly aura, "GIGA VOLT!!"
     Bethany released the energy in a continuous thunderbolt, which struck the angel and stunned it for a minute.
     "And now for the coup de gras," Ariel and Aurora said at the same time.
     "Breaker BEAM!!"
     "Gaav FLARE!!
     Ariel's attack struck the angel with a beam of freezing water and ice, forming a sheet of ice around the angels' body. Aurora's attack struck the angel with an orb of high intensity flame, melting the ice and burning the finish off of the angel's armor.
     "I think we need time to think up a new plan," Mina said as the girls leaped to the back line and formed a defensive shield with their powers.
     "Time for us to kick some butt," Jack said as the guys stepped to the front line. At that moment the band began a fast paced piece, which gave them the strength to fight. (music: Spring Divertimento movement 3 - Scherzo.)      As the intense driving beat of the music kicked in, Alex, Jason, Jack, Adderson, and Andrew leapt to the front line, drawing their respective weapons and preparing to strike. The first four slashed downward with their weapons while Andrew fired off a barrage of golden arrows. Each attack was deflected by the angel's armor or by the angel itself. The five then charged at the angel, wielding their weapons in hopes of finding a weak point in the angel's defense. Unfortunately their attacks were repelled and the angel struck out with its own attacks, leaving gouges in each person's armor, a couple scratches here and there, and ultimately hurling the five would be defenders through the air and towards the band, only to bounce off of the AT Field.
     "Ouch," Andrew moaned, shaking the stars from his head, "I think we just figured out a major problem in our offense."
     "That the angel has an incredibly strong defense," Tod said, offering his hand to Andrew to help him to his feet. Andrew took hold and Tod hoisted him to a standing position.
     At that moment the band finished the first round of the fast beat and began the second time through, this time a little higher in pitch. As the trumpet joined in the confusion of the piece, Tod, Jason, Nate, Steve Huff, and James stepped forth to attack. The five leapt into the air, produced their weapons, and struck out to try their luck with the angel. Five weapons struck, only to be repelled. The energy which they exerted was turned back against the warriors, hurling them through the air. Luckily they managed to land on their feet. They then proceeded to strike out with their special attacks.
     "Shooting Star Strike!"
     "Crystalline Rondo!"
     "Magma Hammer!"
     "Gigabolt Wave!"
     "Venus Melt My Heart STRIKE!"
     The lasers, crystals, magma, electricity, and three chains struck the angel and appeared to finish it in a massive explosion, but when the smoke cleared the angel was still alive and kicking, and kick it did - it kicked the five through the air and into the five who first attacked it.
     "Owies," Alex moaned before shouting at the top of his lungs, "Will you get off of me!! You guys are HEAVY!!"
     By this time the band reached a part of the piece where it sounded like a taunt, which caused Alex to hurl everyone off of his back. He then began an incantation of sorts.
     "East winds which blow have you as a source. Into my hands now ignite all their force. Flare ARROW!!"
     He held his hands like he was holding a bow and arrow with the string drawn. A small sphere of flames formed between where his hands were positioned, which quickly exploded into the form of an arrow of flames. An energy bow sparked in and out of sight until Alex released the arrow. By this time the piece reached a very slow moving part, which helped Alex to concentrate on his spell casting.
     'Prepare to be taught the ultimate lesson,' he thought, 'you have obviously messed with the wrong people and now prepare to have justice triumph.'
     At that moment the arrow struck the angel and exploded, engulfing it in flames. As Alex was about to give a victory sign, though, the angel emerged from the smoke and hurled a sword in his direction. Alex turned around in time to deflect the weapon with a barrier spell, then followed up with a second spell.
     He held his left hand in the air, his index finger pointed to the sky. He braced his left wrist with his right hand and began the incantation. "You who crosses between sky and earth. Raging water, gather in my hand and give me power. Demona... CRYSTAL!!"
     A sphere of ice energy formed around his index finger as he chanted the spell. When he said the attack phrase he pointed at the angel. A beam of ice energy fired from his finger, striking the angel and freezing it in a solid block of ice.
     "Did I get it?" Alex asked, gasping for breath. He then collapsed in a nearby seat to catch his breath.
     "You got it," Touji said, "But it's breaking free."
     "WHAT?!" everyone exclaimed, turning to the angel. The icy prison cracked and shattered, releasing a rather perturbed angel, which started firing off energy beams in every direction.
     "That just proved to us that magic doesn't work either," Ami said, diving behind a seat to avoid having her head blown off.
     "We have to shatter the armor," Lita said, charging up for a thunder attack, "Jupiter Thunder DRAGON!!"
     Lita's attack struck the angel, only to be absorbed by the armor, making the angel even stronger. It then turned the attack back on the sender, blasting Lita with enough energy to knock her over the heads of the percussion section.
     "Which means we need a call to a higher power," Alex said, "Everyone, gather around me." Once everyone was in position, he began his chant. At that same time the band finished the third movement in the piece and began the fourth. (music: Spring Divertimento movement 4 - Serenade.)      The fourth piece was a slower, more melodic movement, which aided Alex in concentrating on his incantation.
     'Great spirits of the Gods, grant us the power to defeat this enemy. Come before us and show your great compassion to us by giving us the strength we need to finish this beast. Help us to deliver your smiting blow. Boost... BOLT!!'
     As he finished his incantation, the sky above them began to glow, with rays of golden light showering down around them. Each person felt their power increasing, new power up phrases coming into their thoughts. Everyone held up their power items, each one transforming into a more powerful version of the original. Since Alex, Derek, Adderson, and Richard had already gained their super transformations, they just joined in the shouting of the new power up phrases.      "Thunder Crystal POWER!"      "FireStar Crystal POWER!"      "Ice Crystal POWER!"      "Star Crystal POWER!"      "Flame Crystal POWER!"      "Universe Rebirth POWER!"      "Pluto Super Nova POWER!"      "Ganymede Super Nova POWER!"      "Orion Super Nova POWER!"      "Callisto Super Nova POWER!"      "Mars Crystal POWER!"      "Mercury Crystal POWER!"      "Venus Crystal POWER!"      "Jupiter Crystal POWER!"      "Crisis Moon POWER!"      "Pallas Cosmic POWER!"      "Vesta Cosmic POWER!"      "Juno Cosmic POWER!"      "Ceres Cosmic POWER!"      "Sun Super Nova POWER!"      "X Super Nova POWER!"      "Lunar Crystal POWER!"      "Jupiter Planet POWER!"      "Venus Super Nova POWER!"      "Europa Super Nova POWER!"      "Io Super Nova POWER!"      "Mars United..."      "Mega Moon Power!"      The energy given off by the super transformations was intense as the angel soon found out, for the energy waves threatened to hurl it out the back of the auditorium if it didn't move into a defensive position. When the lights died down the Warriors and Sailor Soldiers had powered up and were ready to attack. By this time the band had finished the Serenade and moved on to the fifth movement, which was an incredibly fast and intricate movement. (music: Spring Divertimento movement 5 - Dance.)      "Let's get ready to show this angel what we're made of," Richard said, drawing his ice dagger.
     "This is the perfect time to utilize a new attack I've been working on," Alex said, "but to make it work we need to wear the angel down and give me time to accumulate enough dark energy to perform the attack."
     "We'll give you the time you need to get ready," Alyssa and Alison said, charging at the angel. The pair leapt into the air and unleashed their attacks.
     "Phobos Shockwave Strike!"
     "Deimos Tornado Strike!"
     The shockwave struck the angel, stunning it. The tornado lifted the angel to the ceiling before dropping it to the ground a hundred feet below. The angel struck with enough force to create a small impact crater. The angel stood up, stunned by what had just happened.
     "Where.... where did you get that power?" it asked, shaking the cobwebs from its mind, "How... how were you able to injure me?"
     "We powered up," Steve said, "and we're gonna take you out!"
     "CHARGE!!" Jack shouted, rocketing forward at full speed. He drew his sword and leapt into the air before slashing downward. His slash was met by the angel's gauntlet, but cut into the metal until it reached flesh. The angel howled in pain, hurling Jack across the auditorium and towards the band. Jack managed to land on his feet. He turned to Alex and said, "Go for it guy.... summon the dark energy you need."
     "All right," Alex said, drawing his star sword and holding the blade in his palm. As dark energy began to gather in the blade the band hit a point in the piece where the notes were high in pitch, the action was fast and furious, and the beat was incredibly rapid. As the music and the band played on, the Warriors and Sailor Soldiers charged at the angel, striking it repeatedly with weapons and special attacks.
     As the battle raged on, Alex began his incantation.
     "Sword, give me your strength. Darkness beyond blackest pitch, deeper than the deepest night. King of darkness who shines like gold upon the sea of chaos. I call upon thee and swear myself to thee. Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess. Sword, accept this darkness and obey my command!!!"
     While Alex was incanting the spell, the angel caught on to what he was doing and started to charge in the direction of the spell caster, only to run into Jordan, Mike, Josh, Nate, and Lizz. The five beat the angel back and moved out of the way once Alex was ready to cast the smiting blow.
     "Giga... SLAVE!!"
     Alex leapt into the air and slashed downward, releasing the accumulated dark energy. The dark energy formed a giant black thunderbolt, which raced across the ground before rearing up towards the ceiling and arcing back down, bludgeoning the angel with dark energy. As the energy raced through the angel's body, the band completed a very melodic portion of the movement and was about to begin the repetition of the high pitched notes. The dark energy overloaded the angel's body and shattered the armor, exposing the weak body beneath the powerful armor.
     "The armor's gone," Derek shouted, "Let's finish it!!"
     "Wha?! How?!" the angel mused, "How were you able to break the magical armor which protected my body?!"
     "My little secret," Alex said, re sheathing his sword and producing his glaive, "and now we're going to vanquish you." Alex then leapt into the air, the blade of the glaive above his head. Dark energy flowed into the blade, forming a dark sphere around the blade. He then shouted, "Giga FLARE!" before swinging downward. At the lowest point of the arc the energy exploded forth in the form of a dark thunderbolt, which struck at the angel's feet before exploding into an expanding wave of energy and heat. Alex continued to levitate above the ground in case he had to cast a spell to vanquish the angel.
     "Star Missile!"
     "Dead Scream."
     "Gravity Cutter!"
     "Magma Hammer!"
     "Flaming Fissure!"
     "X Beam Cutter!"
     "Gaav Flare!"
     "Fire Ball!"
     The assortment of attacks struck the angel and wore it down until it was almost defeated. Alex absorbed energy from the chaos emeralds in his gauntlets, forming a sphere of dark energy between his palms, which he clenched, forming a twin blade of dark energy. He swooped down and struck the angel several times with the blade before it vanished. As Alex warmed up for a fireball spell, Andrew leapt over his head and struck with one of Alex's old attacks.
     "Orion... Star Sword SLASH!"
     The energy beam struck the angel, filling it with purifying light and vaporizing it. As the angel disintegrated, the band finished up the Dance movement and began the final movement. (music: Spring Divertimento movement 6 - Flourish.)      As the piece started, the audience began to fill the auditorium again, tentatively at first, but then a full flood of people. They all looked at those who had saved the day and applauded a job well done. The Warriors and Sailor Senshi looked at one another before linking hands and taking a bow. They took several bows before the piece ended and the band walked off stage. Alex and Jason leapt onto the stage, de-transformed, and rejoined the other members of the band in the rehearsal room.
     "Oh well," Alex sighed, shrugging, "I don't know what's going to happen from one minute to another, but if we have another night like this any time soon I'm gonna freak."
     "I agree," Asuka said, walking over and joining Jason and Alex, "This night has been hellish."
     "But you didn't even get involved in the battle!" Alex shouted, "Why was it hell for you?!"
     "I broke a nail halfway through the first piece," Asuka whined, showing her broken fingernail to the other two. Alex and Jason fell over.
     "Great work you two," someone said from behind them. Alex turned around to face a pair of legs clad in tan kahki pants. Alex's eyes panned up the person's body, moving past a brown braided leather belt, a dark blue blazer, a blue dress shirt, and a black and red striped tie before meeting a fairly handsome bearded face. "Though I wish you had told me sooner you were a couple of the warriors."
     "T...T... TONY?!" Alex said, stuttering from shock, 'How could Tony Booth know about our powers?'
     "What makes you think we're the warriors?" Jason asked, crossing his arms defiantly before his body.
     "You two vanished as soon as the action heated up, and reappeared once the battle was over, not to mention Warriors Saturn and Callisto look remarkably like you two." Tony explained.
     "Oh well," Alex sighed, "do you have any redeeming powers which will aid us in our quest to vanquish all evil in this world, destroy angels where ever they appear, or make an incredibly great meal?"
     "Well, I'm quite skilled with sonic weapons, I can cook some, and I have some powerful components to upgrade your communicators and computers and stuff."
     "Kickass," Asuka said, getting involved in the conversation, "Welcome to your ranks, Mr. Tony Booth."
     "Here we go again," Jason sighed, "But at least the concert is over."
     "But the second half is about to begin," Tony said, walking towards the door to the stage. Jason quickly followed him, leaving Asuka, Alex, and Shinji to pack up and return to the dorm. But something troubled Alex for days after - why had the band played on while they were fighting? END
