UNWED  MOTHER

" You are a  total disgrace."   her parents yelled.
" You should hang your head in shame."
" For you shall not give birth here."
" You have ruined our family's name."

Now pack your things and get out
We no longer want you here,
So she packed up her belongings
And fled from the house in tears.

If not for the kindness of strangers
She would not have survived on her own,
She went to a place for unwed mothers
But it was only a temporary home.

With help from Social Services
A small apartment she did find,
They provided her with food and shelter
Which helped to ease her mind.

Her baby son she loves dearly
No sacrifice is too small,
To ensure he is well cared for
There are days she don't eat at all.

Cold and tired; weak and sick
She must now seek her family's aide,
Just the thought of being turned away
Makes her so afraid.

Sad and heartbroken with a baby in her arms
She stood there knocking on the door,
Of the house where she once lived
Where she is not welcomed any more.

Her small baby stirs in her arms
Then he starts to cry,
People give her curious looks
As they pass her by.

A woman slowly opened the door
Surprise registered in her eyes,
A thin, pale girl stood before her
Her daughter she barely recognized.

Both mother and daughter just stood there
Neither knew what to say,
Then the daughter lost her courage
And she turned to walk away.

" Please don't go."  her mother pleaded
Then she gave her daughter a nervous smile,
Much time have passed since I saw you last
And I would love to see my Grandchild.

She walked towards her mother
Tears welled up in her eyes,
Her mother gently took her hand
Then they both went inside.

All is now forgiven
She have moved back home,
She is now healthy and happy
She do not have to raise her son alone.
