====================Session Begins==================== * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The two of you are sitting in the bleachers at the edge of a baseball diamond, waiting for your CO to brief you on your first mission. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: To either side are large plastic containers holding the weapons for the mission. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: Another 13 people from the training mission are present. (that's in addition to the two of you) (Im not gonna make the comments that I usually do at our home RPGs =) ) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The training sergeant from the previous day walks toward you briefly, a small stack of papers under his arm. =All right, Privates!= =Your first mission has come in -- garrison duty!= The soldiers around you moan at the monotonous task. I raise an eyebrow, unexcitedly. =There have been some concentrated attacks on base Gamma-4.= =It's under construction slighlty northwest of Sennin Park.= I raise my hand. The Sgt. sighs. =What is it?= I decide not to ask him. =Sorry sir, nevermind.= The Sgt. mumbles under his breath before continuing. =As you may know, we're a platoon and a half.= Adder notes that a platoon is 10 people, then. =I would have liked to make it two and have Sgt. Warwick lead you, but he's already taking a small force on a special mission.= Adder remembers Sgt. Warwick. Nice guy, but he only recently earned the rank of seargent, as he remembers. He looks around. =That's all! Grab your weapons and fall in.= I go to the buckets and search for a CPS 1000. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You examine the weapons stock to find one CPS 2500, one CPS 1500s, one XP 250s, two XP 150s, three XP 110s, and two XP 40s in each of the two containers. Takes a 110 I fight for the 2500... Adder successfully grabs one of the 2500s before they're both taken (Are they filled?) You examine the weapons and find each to be filled and unpressurized. I pump my weapon up to full. pumps up the gun * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The Sgt. shoulders a CPS 1500 and begins walking away. The unit begins following him. I carry the weapon in a ready fashion. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You have an uneventful hike along an open path to Sennin Park. Suddenly the Sgt. (at the front of the unit) grabs a radio from his belt and holds it to his ear. I listen to any sounds coming from the radio. You can make out nothing from this distance. After speaking into the radio for awhile, he turns to the unit and begins to speak. (ok) =I've been called away on urgent business, but you'll all have to continue. It's that way= (here he motions with his hand) =you've just got to guard the base.= With that, he turns and runs off in a totally different direction. continues toward the base Before anybody can do anything, I simply say, =Let's just follow orders. C'mon= * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You begin moving through the light woods separating the park from the construction site, a short walk. I walk towards the base * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: As you near the construction site, you hear the cries of battle and the splatter of water against wood. Hurrying forward, you can see that the site is under attack by 5 soldiers bearing the insignia of Red Herring Army, each armed with a CPS 2500. The construction workers appear to be unarmed. =Oh no.= (A side note, you are of Adamant Army) Thinks. =Let's storm them!= * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: As soon as the enemy soldiers notice your unit, they race off into the woods in the opposite direction. =Hoboy.= (Is this a counter-based game?) (no, one hit and you're dead for the day) oh (this could go quickly) (don't make any stupid moves) () The construction workers look over and begin to take notice of you. I call to them. =You there! What happened?= asesses the damage delt by the enemy soldiers * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: One of the workers, apparently in charge, steps forward and greets you. =I'm so glad you're here!= the senior architect expresses enthusiastically, =that's the second attack this week, and we have only minimal weapons available and very little training in the art of combat.= The damage appears to not be major, it was only water. hmmm * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You survey the construction site. The workers are working around two trees, about 2 ft in diameter (each) and around 7 feet between each other. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: They've set up some small barricades on the ground near the trees, three of them, each large enough for one defender. I take position behind one barricade. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: On the site above, they've got a platform in place between the two trees, with knotted ropes leading up on either side. A rope ladder or two in a jumble off to the side indicates that the ropes currently in place are only temporary I look back t my unit. =\Is there anybody else in there who's a high-ranker or are we all privates?= * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The workers seem to be working on creating a wall around the edge of the platform, about 4 ft above it. The troops look around at each other. =We're all Privates!= one of them yells. The senior architect looks confused. =Shouldn't you have an officer with you?= I attempt to do something. =Well... My plan is this; Since the attacks are few and far apart, we take shifts.= =Yes, we had a sergent but he had other business to attend to.= The architect seems hopelessly confused. (Whoa, we've burned up a half hour already with just that . . .) There is (obviously) a long pause . . . (Dad says I gotta go) (um . . . right now?) (Yes) (sorry) (:-( ) (Any suggestions for getting your PC out of there, or should I come up with one myself?) 9I gotta go like RIGHT NOW bye *** Adder has quit IRC (The reason lightning never strikes in the same place twice is because the same place isn't there the second time. -Willie Tyler) (please wait a minute) (ok) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The training Sgt. runs up, looking around frantically. He quickly spots Adder holding one of the largest weapons, points at him and motions for him to come. The two of them run off into the woods. (all right, go) (um, not as in leave) (he said just in case) (werewolf? . . . . are you there? . . . .) =You seem confused by something, what is it?= I say addressing the senior architect He slowly looks over at you, his eyes seem to take awhile to focus. =What's going on?= =We came to aid in the defence of this base.= The architect seems to think about this for awhile. =Good. We're already behind schedule from the attacks.= He turns around. =Hey, people! Why are you just standing around?? Get to work!= The construction workers begin working again. The architect wanders off, apparently with other business. Examines the area surrounding the base * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The base in built in the midst of a lightly wooded area, which extends far enough that you can't see out of it. Nearby is a large fallen tree, apparently downed recently, as its brances are still all intact. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You can't see more than about 15 ft through the woods, but you see no other significant features. =Well, people? Are we going to guard this area or stand around all day?= I say to the other privates. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: Most of them seem startled out of day-dreaming by your words. They begin taking up defensive positions, some behind the barricades and some behind trees, to guard the base from every direction. Walks over and stands behind a barricade All the barricades are currently occupied. (BRB . . . restroom) Takes a position behind a tree to the north (back) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: The architects continue about their business. You hear one of them cry out in pain as a board drops to the ground. (do you wish to wait?) (yes) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: Time passes . . . . * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: Time passes . . . . (still waiting) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You think you see some movement in the trees to the West. You think that two enemies talk quickly with each other and then run off away from the base. (still waiting? It's hard to tell, you don't seem to type very fast) Walks over to a defender at the West side of the base He looks up at you. (I'm a very slow typer) (brb) (back) (welcome back. Please continue . . .) =Did you see any movement in the woods?= He considers for a moment. =I think so.= Walks around the base informing people of a possibility of enemies nearby You recieve a round of acknowledgements Walks over to one of the architects =Could I go up on the platform to get a better view of the area around the base?= He thinks for a short moment. =I can't condone that unless you have to. Its still very dangerous up there, and you'd be getting in the way of a lot of workers.= =But, I suppose you COULD . . .= Walks over to one of the ropes and climbs up. (With or without holding your 110?) (It's very difficult to climb a single rope while holding something . . .) (Without ) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You climb up the rope onto the platform. A couple of workers frown at you, but no one contests your presence. One of the architects bends down to recieve a board being handed up. Looks at the area where the movement was spotted before * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You look out, but your view is actually MORE obstructed at this level, because not only the trunks but also a few branches get in your way. You can't see anything but the still woods in that direction. Frowns and climbs back down Picks up the 110 * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You descend the rope and get back down onto the ground. Your weapon is on the ground about a foot away (all right, you have the 110) (sorry, but you were CLIMBING, so I had to roll the dice) Walks over to a soldier on the West He looks up at you. =Come with me, I'm going to check out something I saw and I think backup would be useful.= He nods and stands up. Walks into the woods and heads toward the area where I saw the movement, trying not to be seen * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You walk through the woods, and arrive at the position where you saw movement. No one is in sight. Looks at surroundings * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You see trees. (Nothong else?) (I mean nothing else) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You can see back to where the base is. A few of the defenders are visible from this angle. * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You can see some light in the opposite direction, it looks like the woods might end there. Walks to the light * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You break out of the woods into a small clearing, approximately 3 meters in diameter and roughly circular * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You can still see nothing of interest Returns to base * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You walk back to base. A few of the soldiers appear restless. Returns to spot where I waited before and waits * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: Time passes . . . . * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You note that darkness is beginning to fall, and the workers seem to be almost finished with construction. In around half an hour the designated play time wil end (sorry, will end) (When play time in the game ends will the session end too?) (yeah, that's how far I've planned) Walks around base asking defenders if they have seen anything Most of them answer negative One of two answer that they've seen more action than this at training camp (sorry, that should have read "One or two") One answers that they have seen vegetation. (end of report) Walks over to defender that came with me when I went into the woods =It dosn't look like anything is going to happen here today, let's go patrol around the woods.= He gets a thoughtful expression on his face. =Are you sure that's a good idea? I mean, that'd be two less defenders here, and what would we do if we DID encounter an enemy unit? = =We would stay within sight of the base.= =Well . . . all right, anything's better than sitting around here.= He stands up. (You lead him in a partrol around the base?) (Yes) (for how long?) ((assuming you find nothing)) (25 minutes) * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: You proudly march around the base, just within sight of it, for 25 minutes, putting you right on the edge of ending time. Nothing of interest catches your eye. Looks at progress of architects * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: They LOOK to you like they're done, but they apparently have other ideas. Walks to an architect =Are you adding anything else to the base?= He turns toward you, a look of mild amusement on his face. =Nah, it's done, we're just adding a few more bolts to make sure the thing is safe. Can't have it come crashing down while we're defending it, now can we?= =No, that would be very bad indeed.= The architect grins at you and walks off. Walks back over to the North edge of the forest Waits * Gamemaster OCCURRENCE: A clamour goes through the unit as the training Sgt. comes back to the base. =End time!= he calls. =Good work, it looks like the base is in one piece. We'll be getting in a full garrison unit to guard it tomorrow.= Walks over to the training sergent =Yes, Private?= =Where did you go earlier, sir?= He frowns. =Sorry, I'm not at liberty to discuss that with you.= =Oh, sorry, sir.= =Can you tell us anything about our opponents?= He looks at you quizically. =The Red Herrings, sir.= (I've got to go now) =Ah! Well, I guess I know who was sleeping in military history class.= he smiles. =I'll arrange a briefing tomorrow.= ====================Session Ends==================== ====================Mission Ends==================== bye bye *** werewolf has quit IRC (Read error to werewolf[ip102.net20483142.cr.sk.ca]: EOF from client) Session Close: Sun Aug 09 18:38:43 1998
